The Bachelorette Season 21 Men Blindsided By Jenn Tran For This Shocking Reason (Spoilers)

WARNING! This article contains possible spoilers for The Bachelorette season 21!

The Bachelorette season 21 will star Jenn Tran in the title role, but now Reality Steve reveals that her contestants were expecting somebody else when they signed up for the season. Jenn, a 26-year-old physician assistant student from Hillsdale, New Jersey, who’s currently living in Miami, Florida, got her start in Joey Graziadei’s Bachelor season. Although Jenn told Joey that she was falling in love with him, he eliminated her before his hometown dates. Jenn was heartbroken, but she’s now ready to continue her journey to find love on The Bachelorette season 21.

On his Daily Roundup podcast, Reality Steve revealed that several of Jenn’s contestants expected to see Daisy Kent or Maria Georgas as the Bachelorette. However, Reality Steve wasn’t sure if this will be a main storyline, or if they only discussed it “behind closed doors.” He said that there’s a possibility that it won’t be included in the show, but he believes that since both Daisy and Maria have revealed that they turned down the role, he’s guessing that it will be aired. Reality Steve added that “multiple guys” said it, but he doesn’t know if they were disappointed to see Jenn, or if they were simply expecting Daisy or Maria.

Why Did Maria Georgas & Daisy Kent Reject Bachelorette Offer?

Both Maria & Daisy Have Revealed That They Turned Down The Role

Daisy revealed on Joey’s “After the Final Rose” episode that she turned down The Bachelorette season 21, explaining that she wasn’t ready to do the show. In addition, on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Maria shared that she’d been offered the role, and was even at the point of doing fittings. However, she had to decline when she realized that she wasn’t happy and excited about it. She knew that it wasn’t her time. However, Maria said that Jenn wanted to be the Bachelorette so badly, and that confirmed her decision even more to leave the role behind.

The fact that Jenn was the third choice to be The Bachelorette and the men came into her season expecting to date Daisy or Maria is very disheartening. Not only does it put a damper on Jenn’s journey for love, but it also makes the announcement that the franchise finally cast an Asian American lead seem insincere. The producers don’t seem to have planned to have done that; it was just a happy accident that Jenn wanted to take on the role, and she happened to be Asian American.

Hopefully, Jenn won’t be too affected by the men who expected to see Daisy or Maria, and they’ll simply leave the show early if they don’t want to date her. Jenn deserves to have men on the show who want to get to know her, without worrying about whether they’re comparing her to other women, or they’re disappointed that she’s not them. Once again, the Bachelorette producers have created drama where it didn’t need to be. They should never have let it be known that Jenn was their third choice for the lead role, especially since Jenn was the first choice of many fans to star in The Bachelorette season 21.
