Starfield’s Most Iconic Armor Gets A Strange But Awesome Update

Starfield’s Most Iconic Armor Gets A Strange But Awesome Update

One of Starfield‘s most iconic suits has received a strange but awesome update thanks to a new mod. The Mantis armor can be acquired relatively early in the game after finding a note on a dead Spacer about a “Once in a lifetime opportunity” on Denebola 1-B. Upon landing on this moon, players enter “The Lair of the Mantis” and it soon becomes clear that this lair is Starfield‘s version of the Batcave, with the renowned pirate-hunter clearly being some kind of Space Batman.

Now, the modder Godofcheese has taken it upon themselves to make the Mantis suit look delicious with the Cheese Mantis suit mod. As its name would suggest, this mod adds gold, yellow, and cheese textures to the suit, each of which has been made in Photoshop. Considering the Mantis’ helmet does resemble a wedge at times, with its almost triangular appearance, this works perfectly.

Cheese Has Become An Ongoing Obsession Within The Bethesda Gaming Community

But Now Players Can Become The Cheese In Starfield

For years now, the Bethesda gaming community has had an appreciation for cheese. While there was no real cheese in the Fallout games – unless one counts Blam-o Mac n Cheese, which probably doesn’t contain any real cheese – there was plenty in the Elder Scrolls games. In fact, there was so much that players were able to fill locations entirely with wheels of cheese, with suggestions that they rename one of Skyrim‘s purchasable homes, Breezehome, as “Cheesehome” or “Brie’s home” as a result.

YouTuber Dennios also opted to push Skyrim its limits in 2023 by having 2,500 cheese wheels on screen at once, with them rolling down a mountainside without causing any lag. Unfortunately, 2,500 was the limit, as any more than this would completely crash Skyrim.

Cheese is available as a consumable item in Starfield, and can be bought from various vendors for 49 credits before being used as an ingredient in various meals or sandwiches. But why consume the cheese when one can become the cheese? Fortunately, this was a question Godofcheese both asked and provided a solution to, even if it does make the menacing space vigilante seem less a bit less intimidating.

Starfield

Bethesda Game Studios presents Starfield – the first original IP from the studio in twenty-five-plus years. Set in the year 2310, the United Colonies and Freestar Collective are observing a shaky truce after a war set 20 years prior. The player will customize their character as a member of a space exploration team called Constellation while navigating The Settled Systems and the conflicts between the warring factions. According to Bethesda, players can explore over 100 systems and 1000 planets to find resources and build their ships, living out their own sci-fi journeys.
