Samsung Invented A Smart Guitar That Makes You Feel Like A Rock Star

Samsung‘s Creative Lab came up with a smart guitar that helps players learn to play. While the South Korean tech giant is known to manufacture some of the best Android smartphones, the company also makes plenty of other innovative technology-based solutions as well. As part of its Creative Lab initiative, Samsung showcases smart products and ides pitched by employees and other startups.

As the nomenclature suggests, Samsung’s Creative Lab Inside projects are those that have been developed by Samsung’s employees. In contrast, Creative Lab Outside projects are part of the company’s startup acceleration program that’s designed to display ideas pitched by other companies. During this year’s CES 2022, Samsung highlighted a total of four C-Lab Inside projects and nine C-Lab Outside projects. This was in addition to more typical Samsung announcements, including its latest gaming monitor.

Samsung’s Creative Lab has been working on a smart guitar project called ZamStar. It consists of an actual physical guitar with LED lights on the fretboard and a companion mobile application that can be used as a collaborative platform. Samsung describes ZamStar as an “all integrated smart guitar and online jamming platform not only for skilled musicians but also beginners.” The idea behind this strikingly unique invention is to help aspiring musicians learn the instrument with ease.

ZamStar Help Users Learn To Play Guitar

The fingerboard of the Samsung ZamString smart guitar contains several LED lights that guide aspiring guitarists in playing chords on the instrument. These lights are controlled by the ZamStar application which sends relevant instructions based on the player’s choice. The app is compatible with Android smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. Samsung believes that the ZamStar smart guitar will help novice musicians learn the basics of a guitar. As users learn to play the instrument and improve their skills, they can continue to use the app in other creative ways.

In addition to helping users record and share their guitar sessions, the ZamStar mobile app can also be used to create a melody by collaborating with other users playing different musical instruments and stacking them on top of each other. However, it does not allow for real-time or live collaborations. It can also add several sound effects to enhance a recording. As innovative as the product is, it’s likely that the fate of ZamStar will depend on the response from consumers, as it typically the case with Samsung ‘s various Creative Lab projects.
