Kayko Shockingly Reveals Which American Idol Season 22 Contestant Should Win

Eliminated American Idol season 22 contestant Kayko reveals that he thinks that Top 7 finalist Triston Harper should win the reality singing competition this year. Kayko made it to the American Idol season 22 Top 10, even though he didn’t originally intend to audition. He was the piano accompanist for his friend, Abby Blake, but the judges–Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan–asked him to audition as well. Kayko wowed everyone with his incredible original songs during the show. He also sang “High & Dry” by Radiohead, “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye (Ft. Kimbra), and “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus.

“We all want Triston to win.”

During a Reddit AMA in the American Idol subreddit, Kayko revealed that he and the other contestants want 15-year-old country singer Triston to win the competition this year. He wrote, “We all want Triston to win. He’s such a QT and it could really help out his situation.” Kayko is referring to the fact that Triston revealed on the show that he and his mother have faced homelessness in the past. Triston has endured more in his fifteen years than many people do in an entire lifetime. Triston is now competing against his fellow Top 7 finalists, Abi Carter, Emmy Russell, Jack Blocker, Julia Gagnon, McKenna Faith Breinholt, and Will Moseley.

Kayko also shared that he didn’t initially audition for American Idol season 22 because he didn’t think the show would want him. He said, “I feel my style of music is kinda weird.” Kayko also revealed that Abby went through five rounds of auditions before she sang for the judges. Kayko didn’t think he’d get through, so he didn’t try. However, he added, “When Katy asked me to play I really just thought it’d be a cool moment and a way for Abby to get screentime.” Kayko concluded by saying, “Nobody will ever believe me but it truly was as spontaneous as it seemed.”

It’s surprising that Kayko would actually give an answer to which American Idol season 22 contestant he’d like to see win, but it seems that he’s not the only contestant who’s rooting for Triston to take the crown. The American Idol season 22 finalists have been especially supportive of each other this year, especially on social media, where they share the fun they’ve been having together and defend each other from online hate. While Triston definitely has a sweet personality and winning the show could help him improve his life, he also deserves to win because he’s an extraordinary singer with incredible showmanship.

Although some American Idol season 22 viewers believed that Kayko’s audition was planned or even staged, his shock when he received his golden ticket to Hollywood from the judges obviously wasn’t faked. Kayko, whose full name is Sam Kelly-Cohen, was a pleasant surprise on the season, bringing unexpected theatrics to every one of his performances. With his phenomenal songwriting ability and his star quality on stage, Kayko is certain to go far in the music industry.

American Idol

American Idol is a reality singing competition that adds to the international “Idol” brand, conceived initially in the U.K. as Pop Idol. Holding massive auditions across the U.S., American Idol invited several contestants to perform in front of a panel of judges that would determine whether or not they’d go on to future rounds for a chance at competing in the fully televised premiere of the show. Contestants are voted off each week by American participation via voting through various mediums, and the winner of the competition would be given a contract with a record label to secure a future as America’s next musical idol.
