Get Ready To Meet GM’s Newest EV, The Chevy Silverado

General Motors will reveal a new electric vehicle (EV), the Chevy Silverado, at the Consumer Electronics Show 2022. Last year, GM announced its Ultium Platform, a system geared at getting everyone into EVs. The company is aiming to create 30 EVs by 2025. The Ultium system will go into all of these vehicles. GM has started on this goal by announcing other EVs this year. GMC announced the Hummer EV Pickup and SUV. Chevrolet also revealed its Bolt EUV. Before the Ultium Platform, Chevrolet released the Bolt EV in 2016. Unfortunately, Bolt EV models from 2017 and 2022 and the 2022 Bolt EVU were recalled due to a problem with the battery pack.

The most known company for EVs, Tesla, has had battery issues, too, leading it to create a new battery to prevent fires. GM isn’t the only car company creating alternatives to Tesla. Porsche and Lamborghini have their own high-end versions. The Porsche Taycan had battery issues. too. More budget-friendly options include Hyundai Kona Electric, Mini Cooper SE, Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV, and the Nissan Ariya. All are under 45 thousand dollars.

GM announced this week that it’s debuting the Chevrolet all-electric Silverado during an opening keynote at CES 2022. Mary Barra, the chair and CEO of GM, will make the announcement on Wednesday, Jan. 5. The EV is made with Ultium Platform enabling driving with zero emissions with electric propulsion. On a full charge, the vehicle is estimated to go more than 400 miles. It will be the first all-electric Silverado.

All-Electric Chevrolet Silverado Features

The EV pickup will have a fixed glass roof. This feature will give front and rear passengers more headroom and will also increase visibility for the driver. This is the first full-size truck to feature the fixed glass roof. The car will also include four-wheel drive with the Four-Wheel Steer element. Few other details are available for the new EV, but GM says it will offer consumers a variety of options for the car and believes it will be in high demand. Availability and price point have also yet to be announced.

Car enthusiasts will need to tune in to CES 2022 for more details. CES 2021 went completely virtual due to Covid-19, but the upcoming event in Las Vegas in January will be in person. Attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination. Consumers can also sign up on the Chevrolet website to be given updates for the Chevy Silverado electric vehicle. By signing up for these notifications, a dealer may also contact the person with offers and other product information.
