The Idea Of You has become one of Prime Video’s most successful releases in 2024, and it’s a great reminder to watch Nicholas Galitzine’s 2023 hit with a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. Nicholas Galitzine’s acting career began in 2014 with the movie The Beat Beneath My Feet, and got his first major role in 2019 in the Netflix series Chambers, where he played Elliott Lefevre. In 2020, Galitzine played Timmy in Zoe Lister-Jones’ The Craft: Legacy, and he has been pretty much unstoppable since then, starring in different projects.

Galitzine’s popularity grew with his role as Prince Robert in Prime Video’s Cinderella, Luke in Netflix’s Purple Hearts, and Prince Henry in Prime Video’s Red, White & Royal Blue, as well as George in the miniseries Mary & George. Galitzine’s latest hit is The Idea of You, directed by Michael Showalter and based on the novel of the same name by Robinne Lee. Galitzine plays a boy band artist who falls in love with a single mother, and for contrast, those who loved The Idea For You have one more movie to watch Galitzine in: Bottoms.

Nicholas Galitzine’s Rotten Tomatoes track record has been mostly positive, with only a couple of movies rated “rotten”. Galitzine’s lowest-rated movie is Purple Hearts, with a 32% critics score but a 68% score from viewers, followed by Cinderella with 41%, The Craft: Legacy with 48%, and The Beat Beneath My Feet with 50%. Galitzine’s highest-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes is Bottoms, with a 90% critics score and 89% from the audience, granting it a “fresh” certificate.

Directed by Emma Seligman, Bottoms is a satirical comedy that follows PJ (Rachel Sennott) and Josie (Ayo Edebiri), lesbian best friends who start a female fight club at school with the purpose of seducing their crushes Brittany (Kaia Gerber) and Isabel (Havana Rose Liu), the school’s most popular cheerleaders. A couple of things and people get in the way of PJ and Josie’s goal, among them Jeff (Galitzine), the school’s quarterback who is also dating Isabel, though they don’t have the most stable relationship.

Although not a box office success, in large part due to its limited theatrical release, Bottoms was a hit with critics, who praised its comedic tone, its nostalgic vibe in a modern context, script, and the performances of its main cast, labeling it one of the best teen comedies in recent years.

Bottoms Showed A Different Side Of Nicholas Galitzine

Nicholas Galitzine has done a bit of horror, drama, and comedy throughout his career so far, but he has stood out the most in rom-coms. The Idea of You will further establish him as one of the most profitable rom-com actors of his generation, but Bottoms truly highlights his range by giving him a different role. Galitzine’s character in Bottoms is the typical high school jock who is too full of himself but at the same time, he’s not the brightest guy.

Galitzine has some of the best comedic moments of Bottoms, such as the “accident” that leaves him with a “severe injury” and his dancing while the girls vandalize his house, showing that he can do a lot more than just romantic and dramatic roles. The Idea of You and Bottoms are an interesting contrast when it comes to Nicholas Galitzine’s work, but they are great examples of how versatile he can be.
