Apple TV+’s thrilling sci-fi series Dark Matter has landed, but how many episodes will the show have in total and when will the finale be released? Dark Matter was created and largely written by Blake Crouch, adapted from his own critically acclaimed 2016 novel of the same name. The story revolves around a physicist in Chicago who is mysteriously transported into an alternate version of his life. Throughout the series, he’ll have to fight to get back to his own reality and stop his alternate self from hurting his family.

The star-studded Dark Matter cast, led by Joel Edgerton as Jason Dessen, features such recognizable actors as Jennifer Connelly in the role of Daniela Dessen, Alice Braga in the role of Amanda, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Jimmi Simpson in the role of Ryan. Crouch’s writing staff includes Jacquelyn Ben-Zekry, Ihuoma Ofordire, and WandaVision’s Megan McDonnell, and the first three episodes are directed by The Alienist’s Jakob Verbruggen. The Apple TV+ series is off to an exciting start, but how many episodes are there and when will it end?

Dark Matter’s Finale Comes Out On Apple TV+ On June 26

The final episode of Dark Matter will drop on Apple TV+ on June 26. Details about the finale are being kept under wraps; Apple hasn’t even revealed what the finale is called, so the title itself might include a spoiler for how the mystery storyline will be resolved. Each new episode of Dark Matter will be released weekly and the series will conclude on June 26.

Dark Matter Has 9 Episodes In Total

Dark Matter will consist of a total of nine episodes. After premiering with two episodes on May 8 – episode 1, “Are You Happy in Your Life?,” and episode 2, “Trip of a Lifetime” – Dark Matter has seven episodes left. The first two Dark Matter episodes set up the premise of Jason being drugged and kidnapped, then waking up in an alternate universe. Now that this premise has been established, the next seven episodes will gradually put the puzzle pieces together to solve the mystery in time for the highly anticipated finale.

Dark Matter’s Full Episode Release Schedule

Although Dark Matter had an unconventional premiere with the first two episodes dropping on the same day, the rest of the series will follow a traditional weekly schedule. Weekly TV releases have recently come back into fashion after Netflix pioneered an all-at-once release strategy. The episodes will be released on Wednesdays: episode 3 on May 15, episode 4 on May 22, episode 5 on May 29, episode 6 on June 5, episode 7 on June 12, episode 8 on June 19, and episode 9 (the finale) on June 26.
