My Hero Academia made a triumphant return to television screens with the first episode of season 7, which featured the beginning of an epic battle between “Tomura Shigaraki” and America’s top hero, Star and Stripe. Here’s what fans need to know to tune in and watch episode 2 of season 7 as soon as possible.

When Do New Episodes of My Hero Academia Release?

My Hero Academia‘s new episodes are currently debuting on Saturdays, at 2:30 AM Pacific Time (5:30 AM Eastern Time). As a result, My Hero Academia season 7, episode 2 will be debuting on May 11, 2024, at 2:30 AM Pacific/5:30 AM Eastern. Episodes are being uploaded as soon as the Japanese airing concludes, explaining the early release window. As a result of this rapid release, new episodes will initially be available only in Japanese with subtitles. English dubbed episodes of season 7 are confirmed to be on the way, but no release date for the English dub has yet been announced.

What Happened in My Hero Academia, Season 7, Episode 1?

My Hero Academia: Star and Stripe in front of NYC

Episode 1 of season 7 focused heavily on the new character Star and Stripe, introduced as America’s #1 hero. Star and Stripe went rogue, opting to help Japan against her government’s orders, and took off with a squadron of fighter jets. On the way, they encountered “Tomura Shigaraki,” igniting a massive mid-air battle in which Star and Stripe pulled out all the stops, using everything from massive laser beams to intercontinental missiles, in addition to her incredibly powerful Quirk, New Order.

New Order allows Star and Stripe to impose rules on anything she touches, but for living things, she must know its name. That’s a problem, since “Tomura” is now a composite being that’s equal parts Tomura Shigaraki and All for One, meaning neither name adequately covers his identity. Star and Stripe isn’t hesitating to pull out the big guns, trying to kill “Shigaraki” directly on multiple occasions, but just can’t quite finish the job. The fight had not yet concluded by episode’s end, with things looking bleak for “Shigaraki,” but the tables could turn at any time.

Fans can expect that Star and Stripe’s battle with “Shigaraki” will be coming to an end in the next episode, one way or another. The Star and Stripe arc only lasted 6 chapters in the manga, so there’s very little chance of the fight being extended beyond episode 2. After Star and “Shigaraki’s” battle concludes, the focus is likely to shift back to the main cast as they deal with the fallout of this unexpected assistance and try to find a new path forward in this changed situation.

For a season premiere, My Hero Academia season 7, episode 1 was about as exciting as it can get, and fans can expect that excitement to carry over into the next episode as their fight continues. This will ultimately lead into the next arc, which fans refer to as the “UA Traitor” arc, in which that long-standing My Hero Academia plot point is finally addressed.

In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
