The time has almost arrived for Demon Slayer‘s anime to return to the airwaves, starting with the Hashira Training arc. Here’s everything a fan needs to know in order to tune in and watch the season premiere when it drops.

What Time Do New Demon Slayer Episodes Release?

Demon Slayer‘s Hashira Training arc will debut on Crunchyroll on May 12, 2024; the exact time of release has not yet been confirmed, but for the previous Swordsmith Village arc, it was 10:45 AM Pacific Time/1:45 PM Eastern Time. The first episode of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc will be an hour-long premiere, so fans should expect a longer-than-usual episode to kick the season off. Episodes will debut in Japanese with English (or other language) subtitles. There is currently no news about the English dub of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc, but fans likely won’t have to wait too long to find out.

What Happened in Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc?

Demon Slayer swordsmith village arc finale with Genya Mitsuri Nezuko Tanjiro and Muichiro in a split screen pattern

The previous season of Demon Slayer covered the Swordsmith Village arc, which saw two of Muzan’s upper-ranked demons attack the village where Nichirin swords are forged, hoping to disrupt the Demon Slayer organization by attacking one of its weak points. Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya happened to be present for the attack, putting the onus of defending the village on these young Slayers. Fortunately, Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji also happened to be nearby, and were able to help defeat these threats.

At the end of the season, a dramatic moment occurs in which Nezuko is exposed to the sunlight, only to reveal that, unlike other demons, the sunlight actually didn’t destroy her. Given that Muzan has been searching desperately for a way to eliminate his weakness to sunlight, this puts a major target on Nezuko, and protecting her will become an incredibly important part of the mission from this point forward.

What to Expect in Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc Episode #1

Demon Slayer: The Hashira meeting from the trailer for Hashira Training Arc.

As is common with Demon Slayer, some rest and recuperation after the culmination of the last big battle is in order for Tanjiro and his fellow combatants. The Hashira will have a meeting to discuss the current circumstances, including the manifestation of Demon Slayer Marks on Muichiro, prompting them to try to figure out how to manifest the mark in other Slayers. This will lead to the idea of mass training that the arc gains its name from, having the less-experienced Demon Slayers train with the Hashira to achieve their highest potential before the confrontation with Muzan.

The Hashira training arc is one of the shortest arcs in the manga, and it’s been unclear so far exactly how much content this season of Demon Slayer will adapt. The pacing of the first episode may give more of an indication as to where fans can expect the season to end, but so far there’s not even a total episode count for the season to work with, making it impossible to say when the new season of Demon Slayer will end.
