Zooey Deschanel is set to host a New Girl re-watch podcast alongside fellow co-stars Hannah Simone and Lamorne Morris. New Girl was one of the most popular sitcoms of the 2010’s, beloved by both audiences and critics as it went on to receive several Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy Award nominations during its seven-season run. The show was centered on Deschanel’s character, Jess, as she moved into an L.A. loft with three men – Nick, Schmidt and Winston – following a break up and attempted to navigate the problems of 30-year-old life, such as relationships and career issues.
According to Variety, Deschanel is set to host a new podcast called Welcome to Our Show, which will look back at episodes of the series, revealing behind-the-scenes secrets and stories. Deschanel will also be joined by Hannah Simone and Lamorne Morris, who played Cece and Winston, respectively, as they play a unique spin on the show’s mysterious and iconic drinking game, “True American.” The show also promises to feature contributions from other cast members, guest stars, writers, producers, and more. In a statement, Deschanel says:
I am overjoyed to work again with two of my favorite people, Lamorne and Hannah, and to get to relive some of our favorite moments from the seven years we worked on New Girl.
This is another in a recent trend of re-watch podcasts which has seen stars, of sitcoms in particular, revisit the shows they worked on to bring forward new details years later. This most notably includes shows such as Office Ladies, in which stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey shed light on several episodes of The Office that the two worked on. Podcasts such as these have proven to be very popular and insightful to viewers who are either discovering or revisiting incredibly popular shows such as New Girl in the age of streaming.
