Zelda Video Game Actor Addresses Potentially Reprising Her Role For Live-Action Nintendo Movie

With the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie on the horizon, Zelda actor Patricia Summersett speaks out about whether she would try to take up the role on screen. Summersett played Zelda in the video games Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Those games featured the titular Zelda and the playable Link as they attempt to find their way back to one another in the fictional world of Hyrule. They feature action, adventure, and endless fantasy elements.

In an interview with Total Film, Summersett explained that she would be happy to star in The Legend of Zelda‘s live-action cast. She plans to try out for the part, largely because of how much she loves playing Zelda. She even seemingly implies that she would love to play Zelda anytime Nintendo gives her the chance. Check out her full quote below:

Of course I will [throw my hat in the ring]. I would love to play Zelda over and over again.

Will Patricia Summersett Star In The Zelda Movie?

Not much is known about the Zelda movie, nor about the plans for the cast. It was only recently announced, leaving little opportunity for future viewers to uncover just what the plot will be about. Behind the scenes, the main crew members are falling into place with Wes Ball (The Maze Runner) taking the lead as director, while Sony and Nintendo have agreed on a joint financing strategy. Therefore, any word about the cast is largely rumor.

After the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which starred Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, and many other famous actors, Nintendo is likely to look for other prominent actors to fill the Zelda movie. After all, Mario earned $1.35 million at the box office on a budget of $100 million. With so much success, Nintendo may look to replicate whatever they can of the Mario strategy. That would likely mean that Summersett would not be cast, given that she does not have the star power of Chris Pratt or Jack Black.

That does not mean that Summersett cannot join the cast, however. Nintendo has already proven willing to slightly change the formula of their movies. Zelda is set to be a live-action adaptation, rather than an animation. If Nintendo is willing to change one strategy, it could be willing to change another. Summersett has already proven that she is more than prepared to play Zelda. She could easily find a place in the theatrical adaptation of The Legend of Zelda.
