Zack Snyder’s Justice League Gets Tribute Art Following DCU Shake-Ups

Zack Snyder’s Justice League gets new tribute artwork following the shake-ups going on at DC Studios. As of 2023, the DC Universe (formerly known as the DC Extended Universe) is turning a decade old as the Justice League-based universe began exactly in 2013 with Man of Steel. While there will be several DCU films coming out this year, the franchise is heading for a massive status quo change. With the hiring of James Gunn and Peter Safran for DC Studios, some type of reboot is on its way. While it’s unclear if it’s a full-on relaunch or soft reboot, many established players are not continuing past their upcoming films, as Henry Cavill will not continue as Superman, while Jason Momoa is rumored to be playing a new DCU character after his next Aquaman movie.

While a new DCU is coming, fans are still mourning the loss of the Justice League that Snyder assembled throughout his time with the franchise. Some have also taken to honor the former Justice League with new amazing fan art.

Made by Art of Time Travel, the artist brought all of Snyder’s actors together for a final Justice League tribute. The poster includes Cavill’s Superman, Ben Affleck’s Batman, and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman as the DCU trinity, while also featuring Ezra Miller’s Flash, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, and Harry Lennix’s Martian Manhunter. Lennix’s Martian Manhunter was never revealed in the main DCU through 2017’s Justice League but was part of 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League, an extended and alternate version of the film.

What’s Next For DC Studios

While no concrete plans for the new Justice League have been revealed, a few details have been established over the last few months. For starters, Gunn is working on a new Superman movie, which will focus on a younger Clark Kent this time around. Gunn is penning the screenplay for the reboot, while a director has yet to be picked. Batman will factor into the new DCU in some capacity, but whether or not he will star in a solo film first or appear in someone else’s movie remains to be seen.

Gadot’s Wonder Woman has yet to have her future revealed following the cancelation of Wonder Woman 3. Momoa’s rumored new DCU character has been heavily speculated to be the popular DC bounty hunter, Lobo, although no confirmation has been given at this point. Gunn has also established that there will be a divided focus on famous and lesser-known DC characters, as well as recently revealing that Elseworlds movies are also in the works. Under Gunn and Safran’s regime, the producing duo will be in charge of TV shows, movies, animation, and video games tied to the DCU.

Since Warner Bros. Discovery obviously wants to compete with Marvel Studios, a new Justice League film is inevitable, but it’s all about when it will happen. The idea might be to build out the new DCU and eventually lead up all the solo movies to a new Justice League team-up movie. With a focus on a younger Superman, the rest of the Justice League may also be depicted in their younger years throughout their respective projects. Hopefully, as Gunn reveals his DCU plans, a better idea about his Justice League will become clear over time.
