Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel: How To Build A Deck Around Your Favorite Card

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel: How To Build A Deck Around Your Favorite Card

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel encourages new, returning, and veteran Yu-Gi-Oh! players to get creative and try different types of deck builds and mechanics, and players can build an entire deck around their favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. Yu-Gi-Oh! has an incredible sense of style, and there are thousands of unique Monsters and archetypes to fit any player’s personal aesthetic and play style, making each deck unique to the duelist who wields it. There are tons of iconic cards from the classic TCG, anime series, and manga to choose from, and players can bring their favorite cards into battle with a deck build that takes advantage of each card’s unique strengths and abilities.

Most Yu-Gi-Oh! cards are part of a specific deck archetype, especially the cards that are featured prominently in the anime, such as Dark Magician or the legendary Blue Eyes White Dragon. Archetypes tend to build on each card’s specific effects and have great internal synergy, so players should look through the selection of cards from the archetype of their favorite card and choose those that allow them to bring out their more powerful monsters and pull off special effect combos. However, it’s also important to balance archetype cards with deck staples and utility cards like board wipes, deck-searchers, Spell and Trap counters, and revival cards that help players counter their opponent and get the cards they need to their hand and field. While most archetypes contain cards that have these types of effects and bolster the synergy of the deck as a whole, staple cards like Monster Reborn, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Raigeki work well in any type of Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel deck build.

When building a deck around a favorite card or archetype in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, it’s important for players to consider the play style and mechanics that will work best for them and match their familiarity with the game. Players who haven’t dueled since the earliest days of the game may be more comfortable with a more straightforward, basic deck structure that doesn’t involve a ton of complicated Special Summons and utilizes more basic game mechanics. On the other hand, players looking for more technical or complex deck builds can take advantage of the various Special Summons and Extra Deck Monsters introduced throughout the game’s twenty year history. Most archetypes feature Monsters of all types, including Fusion, Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum, and Link Monsters, and players can choose a Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel deck build that both complements their favorite cards and operates with mechanics that they enjoy.

How To Get Your Favorite Cards In Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel: How To Build A Deck Around Your Favorite Card

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel features a crafting system similar to card games like Hearthstone that makes it easy for players to craft the exact cards they need for their deck, allowing players to obtain their favorite cards without having to get lucky pulling them from a pack at random. Players can craft cards by dismantling any cards they don’t need in exchange for Craft Points, which they can then use to craft specific cards of the same rarity as the cards they dismantled. Crafting is the easiest way for players to ensure they get to put their favorite cards in their Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel deck, and players can earn even more Craft Points by completing missions and leveling up their Duel Pass.

Crafting Super Rare and Ultra Rare cards of a certain archetype will also unlock Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel’s Secret Packs, which contain cards of that same archetype to narrow down the chances of pulling cards relevant to the player’s deck build. Secret Packs are a great way for players to pull cards of their favorite card’s archetype to structure their deck and experiment with different deck builds and mechanics. Secret Packs can also be discovered by pulling Super Rare and Ultra Rare cards from other packs, and while they’re only available for 24 hours after players discover them, players can easily rediscover a Secret Pack by crafting another card from that archetype.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S Series, and Nintendo Switch.
