A brand new Young Sheldon season 6 behind-the-scenes image reveals the Coopers’ return to church. In two months, CBS’ premiere sitcom will return with new episodes after its summer break. Young Sheldon season 6 will continue Sheldon and his family’s arcs, including the storylines that were left without resolution in season 5.
The Coopers went through several changes in Young Sheldon season 5. It noticeably tackled more mature subjects as the kids slowly age. Georgie was met with an unexpected pregnancy, while Sheldon and Missy deal with their respective personal issues as they enter puberty. Meanwhile. George and Mary were both tempted to start their own affairs. At the end of Young Sheldon season 5, things only got worse as the Cooper parents lost their jobs and were shunned from church due to Georgie’s situation. Pastor Jeff even ruthlessly fired Mary from her work at the congregation to save his own image as the community leader, which didn’t sit well with her husband and Youth Pastor Rob.
In a new Young Sheldon season 6 set image, however, it doesn’t seem like the Coopers will fully sever ties with their church. The photo shared by Raegan Revord on her Instagram Stories shows her filming a scene during the weekly service. Check out a screenshot of the snap below:
This isn’t the first time that Revord shared a behind-the-scenes peek at her work on The Big Bang Theory spin-off. Previously, she posted images of herself during costume preparation, offering the public the first look at Missy for Young Sheldon season 6. While those images tease what can be expected from her character, this offers new information about what lies ahead for the Coopers. It’s likely that this is the first time that Mary and her kids return to church after Georgie’s news and her subsequent firing by Pastor Jeff. So, it’s safe to say that it will be an uncomfortable Sunday service for her and her family. It’s curious if Youth Pastor Rob will make an appearance in this particular episode but if he does, things are going to be even more awkward for Mary and Missy.
Mary’s firing from her church was arguably one of the most heartbreaking things to happen to her in Young Sheldon season 5. The Cooper matriarch has gone through a lot in recent years and throughout it all, she had been nothing but committed to her faith, which is tied to her work. Getting ruthlessly fired by Pastor Jeff was tragic to watch. While she has already gotten a new job working at the bowling alley with Brenda, it’s safe to say that she would still find a way to be involved in her church and this could be the first step in doing that.
