Young Justice: Outsiders – Every Character In The SDCC Trailer

Young Justice: Outsiders – Every Character In The SDCC Trailer

WARNING – The Following Article Contains SPOILERS For Season Two of Young Justice.

The long-awaited trailer for the third season of Young Justice has finally been released. Unsurprisingly, the trailer has offered a glimpse at some of the new heroes and villains beyond the previously announced core cast of the team. It has also revealed some characters not seen since the first season and some who have changed in the time-jump between Season Two and Season Three.

The second season of Young Justice ended with the titular team saving the world from the alien invaders known as The Reach. The victory came at a cost, however, with Wally West (a.k.a. Kid Flash) having seemingly dissipating into nothingness. The season also ended with the shocking revelation that the immortal villain Vandal Savage had forged an alliance with the tyrant Darkseid.

All of this is recalled within the first three minutes of the new trailer. What follows is a breakdown of the remaining two minutes, some of the characters that we see and some guesses as to what our heroes may face in the third season.

Tara and Brion Markov

After establishing that Artemis is living alone, we see her, Dick Grayson (Nightwing) and Jefferson Pierce (Black Lightning) investigating a metahuman trafficking ring targeting minors. A news report by Cat Grant discussing the crisis establishes that the ring is operating out of the European nation of Markovia and includes a statement from the Markovian royal family about how their daughter, Princess Tara, was abducted two years earlier. Another short scene reveals Prince Brion of Markovia being informed that he has tested positive for the metagene and there’s a good chance his sister is a metahuman as well.

In the original comics, Tara Markov was Terra – a one-time member of the Teen Titans, who infamously betrayed the team in “The Judas Contract” storyline. Her brother, Brion Markov, would go on to fight crime under Batman’s tutelage as the hero Geo-Force. Both possessed the power of earth-bending. Brion was previously confirmed as being one of the new heroes to be introduced this season and makes an appearance in costume later in the trailer.

Livewire

Live Wire shoots electricity in Young Justice.

There’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot of a woman with blue skin and hair unleashing an energy-blast. Though not identified by name, given the sound effect when she uses her powers and a different design from the Young Justice version of Killer Frost, it seems a safe bet that this is meant to be Livewire. Presumably, she’s been introduced to the show to act as a foil for the similarly-powered Black Lightning and Static.

Brick and Count Vertigo

Young Justice Brick and Count Vertigo

Brick and Count Vertigo haven’t been seen since the first season of Young Justice, where they were both incarcerated in Belle Reve prison. Brick’s fortunes have apparently improved as he’s seen wearing a designer suit and sporting a gold tooth. This is in keeping with his position in the comics, where the super-strong crime-boss posed as a street thug turned respectable businessman, playing a similar role to Green Arrow as The Kingpin did to Daredevil. Count Vertigo is seen briefly battling with Artemis, apparently having some connection to the meta-child trafficking ring.

The New Gods and The Forever People

Young Justice Orion New Gods

Unsurprisingly, given the presence of Darkseid in the Season Two finale, the heroic New Gods of New Genesis will be on hand to help thwart his plans. The trailer offers a brief glimpse of Orion, apparently leading a legion of space-ships. The trailer also includes a brief appearance by Big Bear of The Forever People, who was last seen in the first season episode “Disordered. ” He is seen alongside a bug-like creature, who was presumed in an earlier report to be the Jack Kirby creation Forager.

Intergang

Young Justice Intergang

Though not identified by name, it seems likely that this group of thugs armed with exotic energy weapons are members of Intergang – a criminal organization with a long history of working for the forces of Apokolips. Though the group has only been referenced in two episodes of Young Justice to date, it seems likely – given Darkseid’s apparent interest in Earth – that they will be a major part of the events of Season Three. Particularly given that abducting metahuman children as part of a trafficking ring seems like just the sort of scheme to bring Granny Goodness and her Female Furies into play.

And The Rest

The trailer also includes Superboy and Lobo (not seen since the season two opener) trading blows, a fight between Batman and Bane and brief shots of Deathstroke, Cheshire, Ra’s Al Ghul, Lex Luthor, Queen Bee and Vandal Savage. This suggests that The Light will also have a role to play in the events of Season Three of Young Justice. It remains to be seen, however, if Savage’s partners will be ready to sign on with the likes of Darkseid.
