You Can Get Spider-Man 2’s Newest Suits For Free, But There’s A Catch

PlayStation owners might be able to get Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s latest suits for free at the moment. Unlocking suits has been a huge part of Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man series and offers a way for players to experience these games as their favorite Spider-Man from the character’s six-decade-long history in media. Upon the game’s launch, there were 39 available suits for Peter and another 39 for Miles, including the 10 suits from the Digital Deluxe Edition, but since then, Insomniac has added other outfits in patches, such as the Hellfire Gala suits that accompanied the game’s New Game Plus update.

As spotted by Redditor ps3saysme, the 90s-inspired Fly N’ Fresh pack is now available via the PlayStation Stars rewards scheme, enabling some players to pick up the suits without spending any actual money. Those who have signed up for PlayStation Stars can accumulate points by completing specific in-game tasks, earning trophies, or making purchases in the PlayStation Store. These points can be traded in the mobile PlayStation App for store credits (via gift cards etc), collectibles, and specific game or DLC purchases.

The Fly N’ Fresh suit pack was launched alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s New Game Plus update on March 7, 2024, and consisted of a “Fly Suit” for Peter, the “Fresh Suit” for Miles, alongside 10 photo mode stickers, and 2 photo mode frames. The pack was made in collaboration between Insomniac Games, Marvel Games, and Gameheads, an Oakland, California-based video game design education program for low-income youth and youth of color. Unlike past Marvel’s Spider-Man suits, which have mainly been added as part of a larger DLC or for free to the game, the Fly N’ Fresh pack costs $4.99. For the first month, however, PlayStation agreed to donate 100% of the purchase price for each Fly N’ Fresh Suit Pac in the United States – up to $1 million – to Gameheads.

Insomniac has previously confirmed that the Fly N’ Fresh Suit Pack will be available at no additional cost to all players at a later date, so with PlayStation’s donation window ending on April 5, 2024, many did wonder when exactly this would be, and there’s been no official announcement on a date from Insomniac. As of the time of writing, the suit pack still costs $4.99 on the PlayStation Store, but PlayStation Stars members can pick it up for 1,250 points if they’re keen to get it early without paying any actual money.

Alternatively, if players are fine waiting for the completely free update to bring the Fly N’ Fresh suits to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, there are other great deals for PlayStation Stars members to spend their points on instead. For example, just earlier this month, Sony added two of its major recent exclusive titles, Helldivers 2 and Rise of the Ronin to the rewards program, with players able to purchase them for 10000 and 17500 points, respectively.
