Yoda Dual-Wielding Lightsabers Proves He Should Always Have Used Two

Yoda Dual-Wielding Lightsabers Proves He Should Always Have Used Two

Spoilers for Star Wars: Yoda #7!The Jedi Master known as Yoda is a Star Wars character unparalleled in his combat skills with a lightsaber, and now, in the latest issue of his solo comic book series, Yoda gets his hands on a second lightsaber, showing that dual-wielding weapons should have always been his default fighting style!

A warrior, mentor, and leader who, over the decades, has helped his fellow Jedi and similar forces of good to overcome unsurmountable odds, Yoda’s lightsaber prowess wasn’t put on full display until the prequel era film, Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, where he fought like a Jedi possessed against a traitorous Count Dooku.

Yoda Dual-Wielding Lightsabers Proves He Should Always Have Used Two

And for as badass as this fight was, as was his Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith bout with the newly christened Emperor Palpatine, Yoda has only ever been seen using a single lightsaber in battle, one that he wields as effectively and efficiently as the best Jedi out there. But after stealing a saber from the villainous General Grievous, Yoda makes Star Wars history by showing why a lightsaber in each hand is a fighting technique he needs to embrace!

Yoda Is Even More Badass Wielding Two Lightsabers

Yoda gets a second lightsaber in comics

An epic moment seen in Star Wars: Yoda #7, by Marc Guggenheim and Alessandro Miracolo, this series has seen Yoda reflecting on stories from his past as he waits in exile on Dagobah for a certain iconic Force user to reach his swampy shores. Telling a tale of a time when Yoda went up against the droid army leader and galaxy-renown lightsaber collector, General Grievous, this issue shows Yoda and General Grievous in the thick of battle, with Yoda eventually getting the upper hand after Force yanking Grievous’ lightsaber right out of his clawed hand, doubling his offensive capabilities instantly!

Flipping and twirling and spinning and jumping like he were a century younger, now with two weapons of mass destruction in hand instead of one, Yoda goes to town on the droid army around him, eliciting vibes of watching him fight with his saber for the first time in Attack of the Clones — a surprising but welcome scene for fans that were used to seeing this little gremlin of a being as a shuffling old coot. Not only is this one of the coolest moments in Star Wars lore for the character, but it’s made abundantly clear in this comic panel sequence that, coupled with the way Yoda already fights with a single lightsaber, having two at his disposal is a no-brainer upgrade that he should most definitely run with.

Yoda Needs To Make Dual-Wielding Lightsabers His Default Fighting Style

So while seeing Yoda go off on some droids with a saber in each hand is a comic book exclusive, fans may still get a live-action version of this epic moment considering new Star Wars content is constantly being announced and released, featuring stories that fill in the blanks in the histories of popular characters and canon-defining events in a galaxy far, far away. Yoda is a whirling dervish of a combatant with a single lightsaber, and as shown in this issue, even more so when dual-wielding, proving he should have always embraced this style of fighting from the beginning!

Star Wars: Yoda #7 is now available from Marvel Comics.
