Yellowstone Season 5 Officially Renewed At Paramount Network

Paramount Network has officially renewed Yellowstone for an upcoming season 5. The Western drama starring Kevin Costner has grown from being a small series to one of the biggest hits on TV today. The fourth season, which premiered last November, garnered some of the highest ratings for any network show since The Walking Dead back in 2017.

Yellowstone follows Costner’s John Dutton, the patriarch of the Dutton family that lives on a massive ranch in Montana. The Duttons must deal with family drama as well as conflicts with neighbors, like land developers and the nearby Broken Rock Indian Reservation, trying to encroach on their land. Yellowstone also stars Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, and more. Additionally, Taylor Sheridan’s ranch drama has spawned a bigger franchise — prequel series 1883 already debuted, and there have been rumors that more shows in the Yellowstone universe are coming.

After a record-breaking fourth season, THR revealed that Yellowstone will officially be back for season 5 on Paramount Network. Production is set to begin in May, and it’s previously been said that the next season will likely air sometime this fall. Yellowstone guest stars Jen Landon and Kathryn Kelly will be upped to series regulars for their respective roles of Teeter and Emily. Chris McCarthy, the president of ViacomCBS Media Networks, says that fans won’t want to miss the next chapter in the Dutton story. He said:

“Yellowstone’s record-breaking performance proves we’ve tapped a cultural nerve and unleashed a passionate audience from the center of the country to each of the coasts.”

Yellowstone Season 5 Officially Renewed At Paramount Network

Yellowstone has totally shaken up Paramount’s future plans to shift the focus of their streaming service, Paramount+. Previously, it was said that Paramount Plus was going to be rebranded into a movie-centric platform with less of a focus on TV series. But since Yellowstone is one of the biggest shows on the air right now, executives had to hit the drawing board and reverse their plans.

Yellowstone star Ian Bohen previously said he believes the show will be renewed well into seasons 6 and 7. However, there’s a lot of pressure on any show that’s seen this much success so early onSheridan will have to figure out an endgame for the series, as there’s always worry that a show will lose its way if it’s on-air for too long. For now, it looks like fans will be getting another new season of Yellowstone this year, and Paramount seems to have no plans of slowing down the franchise’s momentum.
