Yellowjackets Season 2 Episode 7 Recap: 12 Biggest Reveals In “Burial”

Yellowjackets Season 2 Episode 7 Recap: 12 Biggest Reveals In “Burial”

WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS for Yellowjackets season 2, episode 7.

When Yellowjacketsseason 2, episode 7, “Burial,” hit the small screen, it set the stage for the season’s remaining two episodes with its many revelations. With the Yellowjackets season 1 finale, the showdid its best to wrap up as many storylines as it could while still leaving enough questions in its wake to keep viewers interested. There’s only so much information that can be jam-packed into a one-hour runtime, and the showrunners took the same approach with season 2. A lot was revealed over the course of seven episodes, and many revelations were in “Burial.”

After Yellowjackets revealed the fate of Shauna’s baby, season 2, episode 7 saw the team in a sullen funk that was semi-lifted when the snowstorm stopped. The same couldn’t be said for Ben, who was literally talked off a ledge, surprisingly by Misty. The adult survivors got settled in at Lottie’s compound, performing various treatments that informed their present characters. It ended in a pseudo-party for the adults, but the installment also ended in a beatdown on Lottie, courtesy of a grieving Shauna in the past. Worst of all, Adam Martin’s body has been found. The result is many shocking reveals in Yellowjackets season 2, episode 7.

Yellowjackets Cast Guide: Where You Know The Actors From

Yellowjackets has a lot of characters and the cast is complicated by a 25 year time span. Here’s every actor playing each character, young and old.

12 Adam’s Dismembered Corpse Was Found By The Police

But Shauna managed to avoid being a murder suspect.

One of the biggest shockers of Yellowjackets season 2, episode 7, is that Adam’s dismembered corpse was found by the police. Jeff frantically called to relay the news to Shauna while she and the rest of the Yellowjackets survivors were partying at the compound. While the cops don’t have a lot of evidence against Shauna for his murder, she did lead them on a wild goose chase for most of the season, only to finally admit that she had an affair with him before running off.

11 Misty & Walter’s Romance

Walter’s true intentions still haven’t been revealed.

Walter on his boat looking at Misty in Yellowjackets

The question of what Walter is really up to in Yellowjackets weighed heavy on viewers’ minds, as he’s been a strange presence since his introduction and then promptly disappeared after Misty kicked him to the curb. Misty realized she had feelings for him and gave him a call in Yellowjackets season 2, episode 7, but outside of his unanswered texts to her, he hasn’t been seen. There are various theories surrounding Walter’s true intentions, but the show has kept his true M.O. close to the chest.

10 Another Yellowjackets Symbol Appears On A Blanket

The Yellowjackets symbol keeps appearing in random locations.

The mysterious Yellowjackets symbol has been a lingering question since season 1, and it remains unanswered in season 2. The series has dropped key bits of information about it, such as the fact that a sleepwalking Taissa is drawn to the symbols and knows all of their locations. However, some of the survivors in the past have different interpretations, with Lottie believing it’s for protection and Natalie seeing it as a bad omen. The symbol was seen in Yellowjackets season 2, episode 7 on the blood-soaked baby blanket that Shauna threw into the fire. Yellowjackets symbol theories will continue to abound until the series finally reveals its true meaning.

9 The Melting Snow Teased Javi’s Hideout

The weather conditions foreshadowed where Javi hid following his fake death.

After surviving in the wilderness for two months on his own, Javi was finally found by Taissa and Van in Yellowjackets season 2, episode 4. However, Javi isn’t talking, which means that no one knows where he was the entire time. The only words he said by the end of “Buried” were to Coach Ben, but nothing in terms of his whereabouts. Not much was given away about Javi’s hideout in season 2, episode 7, but the melting snow in the episode laid way to his underground lair that was revealed in season 2, episode 8.

8 Taissa’s Connection To The Wilderness?

Taissa somehow knew the location of the symbols and where to find Javi.

Taissa Turner (Tawny Cypress) in Yellowjackets looking at her eye in the mirror

Taissa’s sleepwalking alter-ego in Yellowjackets is deeply connected to the wilderness, as Taissa unconsciously knew where all the symbols were and found Javi. Her connection is discussed in both the past and present timelines, when Lottie asks her to find Crystal and when the pair are talking at the compound in 2021. What’s more confusing is that she’s stopped sleepwalking in the past, thanks to the wilderness. All that’s known is that she follows the man with no eyes. Taissa’s connection to the wilderness still hasn’t been explained, but as Tai spends more time at Lottie’s cult, perhaps she’ll explore this connection further in season 3.

7 Crystal’s Body Still Hasn’t Been Found

The corpse has mysteriously vanished.

After Misty killed Crystal, her body disappeared. Misty looked for her in the snow where she was last seen in Yellowjackets season 2, episode 7 for fear that the other girls would find her and eat her, but to no avail. There are a few possibilities surrounding what happened to Crystal’s body, but the big question is who is getting eaten next. If the girls find Crystal, then she’ll definitely be cannibalized. However, what happens to Crystal’s body is one of Yellowjacket’s biggest questions, and Crystal’s corpse mysteriously vanishing is what’s standing in the way of the team’s next meal.

6 The Wilderness Might Be Responsible For The Death Of Shauna’s Baby

It’s heavily implied that the wilderness wanted revenge.

Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) giving birth in Yellowjackets Season 2 Episode 6

The fate of Shauna’s baby informed her adult character, as evidenced by her “treatment” in Yellowjackets season 2, episode 7. However, the question of how Shauna’s baby died wasn’t really addressed outside of her delivering placenta first. With the Yellowjackets wilderness now being a spiritual entity influencing the events of the past and present, it’s only logical to wonder if the wilderness had a hand in killing Shauna’s baby. She had insulted it just before giving birth, and none of the sacrifices the team made had any effect. While it hasn’t been explicitly mentioned that the wilderness was involved, it’s heavily implied that it was responsible for Shauna’s newborn’s death.

5 Shauna & Ben Hallucinations

Their hallucinations could be linked to their trauma.

Lottie is usually the one having visions, so the fact that Ben and Shauna have been hallucinating too has come as a surprise to viewers. Ben often sees and interacts with his boyfriend Paul, with his vision in Yellowjackets season 2, episode 7 leading him to attempt suicide. Shauna saw and spoke with a dead Jackie and imagined a brief life with her baby. Why these two characters are increasingly getting visions hasn’t been explained. Whether it’s trauma, starvation, or the effects of the wilderness entity, Yellowjackets season 3 should attempt to reveal what’s going on with these two characters.

4 What The Wilderness Wants In The Present

The wilderness is a supernatural entity but its motivation is unknown.

Yellowjackets survivors together at Lottie's cult

Before Travis died, he revealed to Lottie that the wilderness wanted something, and Natalie’s hypnotism session confirmed that the survivors brought back something dark with them. Now that all the adult survivors are together again, the question of what the wilderness wants from them hangs heavy on audiences’ minds. The wilderness is affecting the adults; between Taissa’s sleepwalking returning, Shauna’s violence increasing, and Lottie’s visions coming back, among other issues, it’s abundantly clear. However, what the wilderness wants from them hasn’t been verbalized, and its motive is still ambiguous. The mystery won’t be resolved until Yellowjackets season 3.

3 Lottie’s Psychiatrist Is The Antler Queen… For Now

The Antler Queen’s connection to Lottie is even deeper than originally theorized.

Yellowjackets antler queen in the woods

Lottie becoming the physical antler queen is all but confirmed, but her connection to the spirit remains unexplored. The antler queen visits Lottie with troubling words in Yellowjackets season 2, episode 7, when she’s speaking with her psychiatrist — who turns out to be the antler queen. In her hallucination, the antler queen even speaks in a distorted version of Lottie’s voice, furthering their connection. The true nature of the antler queen entity and her undeniable connection to Lottie hadn’t been explained in the series, until the big reveal that it’s actually Natalie.

2 Pit Girl’s Identity Is Still Unknown

Season 3 will likely reveal Pit Girl’s identity.

Pit girl in the snow of the tiger trap in the Yellowjackets pilot episode

Since Yellowjackets episode 1, viewers have been consumed with determining the identity of the infamous “pit girl,” aka, the girl first seen to be hunted and eaten by the team. The pit girl has yet to be identified, but survivors in the past are beginning to dwindle and there are a few teammates that can be ruled out based on appearance. A lot of signs are pointing to Mari being the ill-fated Yellowjackets pit girl, but there are other options and no answers yet. The big reveal of the pit girl’s identity hasn’t happened on Yellowjackets yet, and it’s one major secret that audiences are still holding out for.

1 Why Do The Teens Start Hunting Each Other In Yellowjackets?

The Yellowjackets’ cannibalism has been a mystery since season 1.

Yellowjackets cannibalism cult ritual

While Yellowjackets has already shown when and why the team first resorts to cannibalism by eating Jackie, they’ve only resigned to eating people who are already dead for the sake of “not wasting the body.” What’s shown in the Yellowjackets premiere is that the girls will eventually hunt down other teammates and kill them before engaging in ritualized cannibalism. How and why the team transitions into this starkly different state of mind has yet to unfold in the show. Whether it is spiritual influence, hunger taking over, or a mixture of both, it’s one major question still on viewers’ minds going into Yellowjackets season 3.
