Y: The Last Man TV Show Starts Production in Early 2021

FX’s Y: The Last Man is to start production in 2021. The upcoming adaption is based on the comic book series of the same name. The comic was written by Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra and was in publication for 6 years. The successful series ended in 2008 with 10 volumes and 3 Eisner Awards to back its acclaim.

According to Syfywire, Chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions, John Landgraf announced production dates for FX’s most highly anticipated TV series. Y: The Last Man, or as it has been shortened to, will begin production in the early half of 2021 after What We Do in the Shadow is set to begin filming. Showrunner Eliza Clark will be at the helm of production. Once production finally wraps, the show will air on Hulu as a part of the FX on Hulu initiative which Landgraf has described as a “major success.”

Unlike the comic, the TV series has been struggling to get its feet off the ground. While the pilot was ordered back in 2018 and was in development for several years prior, several setbacks have prevented the series from being produced up until this point. The TV series lost its showrunner 1 year later due to creative differences. The show then faced accusations of animal abuse from PETA. Not too long after, the show lost its leading man Barry Keoghan who was replaced by Ben Schnetzer. Hopefully it’ll be smooth sailing from here.
