Xbox Series X Retail Listing Shows Off Box Art And Console Design

A retail listing for the Xbox Series X shows off the next-generation system’s box art and console design. A recent leak responsible for revealing Microsoft’s next-generation console and its smaller sibling’s price and release date has kicked the hype train into overdrive. Capitalizing on the excitement, the team behind designing the Series S and X took a closer look at the smaller, all-digital system, highlighting the quick resume feature gamers will be able to utilize on both devices when they launch on November 10, 2020.

The Xbox Series X will sell for $499.99 in the US, which isn’t as expensive of a price point as many gamers speculated for the console. Moreover, pre-orders for the system will begin on September 22, 2020, another bit of information for which Xbox fans have been anxiously waiting. Fans can choose between the slightly less powerful Xbox Series S or its behemoth of a counterpart, with each having financing options available when they launch. The Xbox Series S will be available for $25 per month while the Xbox Series X will be available for $35 per month.

As the pre-order date nears, an Xbox Series X retail listing on the Canadian website La Source shows off the system’s box art and console design. Sporting the ebony block with the green lights indicating power shining through ventilation holes at the top, the box art is typical of what one would expect from the Xbox brand. Most fans will already be familiar with the console’s design, but the retail listing does provide an image of the console’s base, complete with a circular, padded stand to provide the console with more ventilation at the bottom.

No doubt fans will be jumping at the chance to place their pre-orders the day the option is available. It won’t be surprising to see multiple retailers, such as GameStop, Best Buy, and more sell out of their pre-allotted stock in the first day or two. Microsoft may come out with a second round of pre-orders before the console launches, like what happened with the Xbox One X, but 2020’s unfortunate pandemic could hamper its ability to do so.

Combine the recent reveals regarding Microsoft’s next console generation with the company’s hard push to increase Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions and fans may be seeing a new, more competitive side to the company. Their rivalry with Sony during the PS4 and Xbox One generation was rather one-sided in terms of sheer sales numbers, which can be attributed to Sony having more reach and owning a space within the gaming industry longer. However, it also had to do with Microsoft’s poor decision to market the Xbox One as an all-in-one entertainment system rather than focusing on gaming. So far, it seems like Microsoft has learned its lesson and has upped its game significantly, though, that does not make up for the utter lack of first-party launch titles this generation.

The Xbox Series X launches November 10, 2020; pre-orders begin September 22, 2020.
