Xbox Game Pass Leak Reveals Death’s Door, Taiko no Tatsujin & More [UPDATED]

UPDATE 01/18/2022 09:49 am. Since the time of writing, Xbox has confirmed the next additions to Xbox Game Pass, correctly proving the leak. Original story as follows.

An Xbox Game Pass leak indicates the next batch of titles will include the likes of indie darling Death’s Door and rhythm game Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum Master. Developer Acid Nerve released Death’s Door to great success in July 2021 on PC and Xbox platforms, then brought the isometric action-adventure game to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation consoles later the same year. A Bandai Namco Entertainment-published rhythm series, Taiko no Tatsujin dates back to the PS2 days; this Game Pass release, should the leak prove accurate, will mark the franchise’s first foray into the Xbox space.

January’s Xbox Game Pass offerings already seem pretty stacked. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition led the announcements earlier in the year; notably, the collection of beloved RPGs hit the service for PC and console on January 6. Outer Wilds accompanied the Mass Effect release, with Spelunky 2 and co-op shooter The Anacrusis following close behind on January 13. Better still, Rainbow Six: Extraction will launch day-and-date on Game Pass on January 20, Ubisoft and Xbox confirmed a couple of weeks ago. It seems the latter has a few more surprises up its sleeve for this month of Game Pass additions, too.

A fan on Reddit, Saltomaso1 (via Twitter user Nibel), has shared a screenshot of an Xbox Game Pass “Coming Soon” page that does not currently reflect the forthcoming offerings. Previously confirmed titles such as Windjammers 2Rainbow Six: Extraction, and Hitman Trilogy appear on the list in question, which further consists of Death’s Door (Cloud, Console, and PC) and Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum Master (Console and PC). Microsoft has yet to confirm the latter two as Game Pass additions, though the screenshot on Reddit does look fairly convincing. See it in the post linked below:

Games coming soon to game pass from XboxGamePass

Whether or not the Death’s Door and Taiko no Tatsujin leaks hold any truth, January 2022 could go down as one of the best Xbox Game Pass lineups in recent memory. Trilogy collections for Mass Effect and Hitman alone seal the deal; the rest is just icing on an already delicious cake as far as subscribers are concerned.

Originally launched in the summer of 2017, Game Pass is now widely considered the “best deal in gaming.” Such a line doesn’t just serve as clever marketing speak, either. For just $9.99 per month, subscribers can gain access to a robust selection of titles, many of which constitute first-party games from Xbox Game Studios. With heavy-hitters like Starfield scheduled to launch day-and-date on the service this year, 2022 could become Xbox Game Pass‘ most interesting year to date.
