The iconic X-Men leader Storm is finally joining the mutant’s Earth-bound war against the villainous Orchis, teaming up with the X-Men’s other most iconic leader Cyclops to take on Nimrod in a gorgeous new cover for Fall of the House of X #5. With Scott Summers only recently freed from captivity and Ororo Munroe on a quest to resurrect Magneto, the journey to find these two X-Men legends standing side-by-side will surely be bumpy.
Fall of the House of X is a twin series to Rise of the Powers of X, with Fall focusing on a group of classic X-Men heroes fighting a domestic war against Orchis, while Rise follows a reality-hopping hit squad led by Xavier in a bid to defeat the Enigma Dominion.

Storm & Cyclops Are The X-Men’s Most Iconic Leaders
Storm and Cyclops are undeniably two of the most famous Marvel characters of all time, and while they have a long history of friendship, their relationship is better defined by their intense rivalry and opposing leadership styles. Scott and Ororo are considered to be the X-Men’s two greatest field leaders, with Storm once defeating Cyclops in a 1-on-1 duel to decide who would remain as the team’s leader, embarrassing Cyclops immensely. While Scott is incredibly focused on strategy and tactical movements, Storm has always been led by passion and team unity, which have often caused the heroes to butt heads.
The Krakoan Age of the X-Men saw Storm divided from the mainline X-Men team after the founding of the mutant planet Arakko in Planet-Size X-Men, quickly becoming a leader, and well-respected hero, for the Arakki people. Cyclops on the other hand has never even visited Arakko, fearful that its founding would cause a mass mutant exile eventually. Now, Pepe Larraz’s breathtaking and poignant cover for Fall of the House of X #5 sees the two friends and rivals battling Nimrod in an era-defining fight. Standing above piles of tragically murdered X-Men, their battle could determine the future of all mutants, during the “lowest point” the mutants have been at in years.
Nimrod Must Finally Be Defeated For Orchis To Fall
Nimrod has always been key to Orchis’ success, seeing as he is the perfect adaptable mutant-hunting Sentinel, and also controls much of the robotic/AI contingents that work for Orchis. Of course, Orchis is only just beginning to realize that Nimrod and Omega Sentinel have ulterior motives – namely ascension of the Earth by Enigma – so defeating Nimrod is important in taking down both Orchis and the coming Dominion. Nimrod is incredibly difficult to defeat, but the combined godlike strength of Storm and the tactical brilliance of Cyclops could be just the mutant partnership needed to finally decommission the monstrous AI.
With Storm winning the Genesis war on Arakko and currently traveling through Death to resurrect Magneto, this fight with Nimrod may be the first substantial fight alongside her fellow X-Men that Ororo has had in months. Finally freed from Orchis custody by Alia Gregor, Cyclops will need to rally his teammates and partner with the iconic Storm to defeat Nimrod, beat Orchis, and forge a future for all mutants.
