Amazon Prime’s Fallout already showed its commitment to accuracy with its teaser trailer, but its most recent official trailer better demonstrates how it will be just like the games. Although the live-action Fallout adaptation will have to find innovative ways to distinguish itself from the source material, there are still plenty of things the Fallout show must include from the games in order to be a truly faithful adaptation. From the monsters in the Fallout games to the game’s signature sense of humor, the trailer is already proving that the Amazon Prime show is off to a great start.
Even with the Power Armor being different in the Fallout show, it still largely feels faithful to what familiar audiences are used to, which further demonstrates Amazon Prime’s understanding of what their version will need in order to be successful. The Fallout games are notable for each entry introducing players to different parts of the United States that have been afflicted by nuclear fallout, which sends the protagonists down an arduous path of rediscovery. With plenty of material to reference, Fallout‘s most recent trailer proves it understands the material.

Just like the Fallout video games, Lucy is a naive and inexperienced protagonist.
Each entry in the Fallout series is notable for featuring a fish-out-water protagonist who gradually gains experience in various facets of life, such as combat, survival, and people skills, in an effort to restore balance and peace to the nuclear-ravaged world. Although there technically isn’t a single protagonist, each one experiences similar trials and challenges, which helps give the long-running franchise its connective tissue. As seen by Ella Purnell’s protagonist, Lucy, she’s a vault-dweller – that is, someone who avoided nuclear fallout by living underneath the Earth’s surface in a vault with other people. As such, she has an optimistic and hopeful view of the world, despite not fully grasping the harsh reality of it. On the other hand, characters like Walton Goggins’s The Ghoul and Aaron Moten’s Maximus have a much better understanding of the world, which makes for engaging interactions between all three. While Lucy starts off as a wide-eyed optimist, she won’t remain that way thanks to the franchise’s established history.
What The Fallout Games Reveal About Lucy’s Future
The Fallout video games are all about gaining experience and becoming a formidable survivor.
A staple in the Fallout franchise is completing various quests for different people, creatures, and even military factions. By completing quests, the player gains experience in different fields that helps them grow into more capable and influential figures in their respective games. While Lucy will have to start the franchise off as a weak and naive protagonist, it is essential to make her grow into a strong hero. Since Fallout has already shown plenty of references to the games, it will be exciting to see how much Lucy evolves and her impact on the larger framework of the franchise.
Fallout
Based on the video game franchise of the same name, Fallout is a drama series set in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles. The series follows the survivors of the human race in an alternate 1950s timeline, where nuclear war laid waste to the Earth, spawning large irradiated areas and mutated humans who now roam the planet.
