World’s Biggest Ghost Hunt: Pennhurst Asylum is the Longest Televised Ghost Hunt Ever

A&E’s World’s Biggest Ghost Hunt: Pennhurst Asylum is, as its title suggests, quite possibly the biggest ghost hunt we’ll ever see. This two-hour event will take viewers on the most ambitious, record-breaking ghost hunt ever documented.

World’s Biggest Ghost Hunt: Pennhurst Asylum will be the first of its kind – a long, continuously shot episode that will place five paranormal investigators within one of the most haunted places on Earth for two weeks straight. With only a film crew and flashlights on hand, investigators will have to endure an entire fortnight of terrifying supernatural encounters – assuming they can brave their way through the entire record-breaking duration.

Pennhurst Asylum has a bone-chilling history. Back in the day, when low-quality mental hospitals were commonplace, patients unfortunately endured notoriously horrible living conditions that would leave them malnourished and teetering on death. And, if that’s not morbid enough, these mental hospitals stayed open until late into the 20th century, so this seedy history isn’t too long ago. These supposedly haunted places are hotspots for investigators due to their lingering supernatural presence. Check out the trailer for the premiere below:

Pennhurst was open from 1905 to 1987 and held around 10,000 different patients. Most of those patients happened to be children, and they endured the cruelest conditions. It’s become one of the most infamous locations for the paranormal. Full-body apparitions, physical attacks, and mysterious noises are often reported by brave travelers and curious investigators. The owner of Pennhurst has granted this ghost hunting team access to the entire 110-acre property that no one has ever had before. This includes areas that have yet to be explored. The team will be strapped with the latest and most cutting-edge tech, allowing for the longest and most thorough investigation yet.

The night won’t be over quite yet, however, since the season finale of Ghost Hunters will follow right after. The finale will follow leader Grant Wilson and his hand-picked team of paranormal investigators taking on some of the other most haunted places in the US. This team includes paranormal investigators Daryl Marston, Kristen Luman, Brandon Alvis, Mustafa Gatollari, Brian Murray and Richel Stratton, and the locations they’re exploring include some of the most aggressive supernatural phenomena that disturb their residents or neighbors.

World’s Biggest Ghost Hunt: Pennhurst Asylum airs Wednesday, October 30 at 8pm EST on A&E.
