Wonka Rotten Tomatoes Score Sets New Franchise Record

Wonka‘s Rotten Tomatoes score has arrived, and it sets a new franchise record. Directed by Paul King, the upcoming movie is based on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by author Roald Dahl and serves as an origin story for the iconic chocolatier, Willy Wonka. The latest adaptation follows two previous takes on the Dahl’s source material, including Mel Stuart’s 1971 classic and Tim Burton’s 2005 film, which starred Johnny Depp.

Now, ahead of the Wonka release date later this month, the film’s Rotten Tomatoes score has arrived. As of this writing, the prequel sits at 80% with 60 reviews. While this score is likely to fluctuate as more reviews are added, it’s currently the lowest-rated of the three adaptations, with 1971’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory leading the pack at 91%, and Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in second place at 83%.
