Wonka Opening Box Office Projections Grow In Promising Sign For Timothée Chalamet Movie

Wonka‘s opening weekend projections are increasing, which could be a promising sign for the movie’s box office performance. Directed by Paddington‘s Paul King, the upcoming prequel film provides an origin story for the famous chocolatier who first appeared in Roald Dahl’s 1964 novel and was previously portrayed on screen by Gene Wilder in the 1971 film. The Wonka cast is led by Timothée Chalamet in the titular role alongside an ensemble cast that includes Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman, and Hugh Grant as an Oompa-Loompa.

Now, ahead of Wonka‘s release date on December 15, its opening weekend box office projections have been revised to $35-$40 million, according to Deadline. This is a notable increase from the last projections which put it at $20-$23 million.
