Wonder Woman Home Release Includes Never-Before-Seen Epilogue

Warner Bros. confirms the Wonder Woman home release will include a new epilogue titled ‘Etta’s Mission’ not seen in theaters. The studio officially launched their DC Extended Universe last spring with the premiere of Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, followed by David Ayer’s all-villain team-up, Suicide Squad. This year, Warner Bros’ first DCEU offering hit theaters earlier this summer in Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, which will be followed by Snyder’s Justice League in November. Wonder Woman has been a massive success for both the studio and the DCEU, since it was so well received by critics and fans alike and soared past $800 million at the box office.

While the DCEU has proven to be a much different kind of superhero universe compared to the likes of Marvel Studios’ MCU and 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise, one aspect of those cinematic worlds fans may wish the DCEU would adopt is the use of post-credits scenes. While Suicide Squad had a mid-credits scene – which worked as a teaser for Justice League – neither Wonder Woman nor Batman V Superman included post-credits scenes. Now, however, Warner Bros. will be debuting an epilogue with the home release of Wonder Woman.

The official Twitter account for Wonder Woman unveiled a teaser video for the never-before-seen epilogue titled ‘Etta’s Mission’ that will appear on the Digital HD release on August 29th and the Blu-ray release on September 19th. Take a look at the video below:

Of course, ‘Etta’s Mission’ was listed on the Wonder Woman Blu-ray release details provided by Warner Bros. earlier this month, teasing a new adventure for Etta Candy (Lucy Davis) in which she gets “the boys back together for a secret mission that could impact humanity’s future.” Now, the new teaser for the epilogue seemingly confirms it will additionally involve the master of disguise Sameer aka Sammy (Saïd Taghmaoui) and the Scottish sharpshooter Charlie (Ewen Bremner).

While it’s unclear exactly what Etta’s mission will entail in this Wonder Woman epilogue, the description hints it may tie into the larger DCEU. Plus, the font in this teaser video is reminiscent of what’s used for promos for Warner Bros’ Justice League, prompting fans to wonder if this never-before-seen scene could be the Wonder Woman post-credits scene fans have wanted – one that ties the World War I adventure to Justice League.

That remains to be seen once Wonder Woman is released on Digital HD this Tuesday. If the ‘Etta’s Mission’ scene doesn’t tie into Justice League, fans can still look forward to seeing Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) return for the team-up later this year. And, the Princess of Themyscira will be receiving another solo adventure in the DCEU when Wonder Woman 2 hits theaters in 2019.
