Wolverine’s New Costume Removes His Healing Factor’s 1 Big Weakness

Wolverine’s New Costume Removes His Healing Factor’s 1 Big Weakness

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for X-Force #50Wolverine is one of X-Men’s most iconic mutants and one of Marvel Comics’ most physically dangerous heroes. With his incredible healing factor and unbreakable skeleton, there’s very little that Logan couldn’t survive. However, that doesn’t mean that Wolverine is entirely unstoppable, and one piece of Krakoan technology manages to resolve his greatest weakness in style with a slick new suit.

X-Force #50 – by Benjamin Percy, Robert Gill, GURU-eFX, and Joe Caramagna – finds the titular team confronting the rogue Beast as he enacts his latest scheme. Based deep in the heart of the sea, Hank’s base would normally be inaccessible to the likes of Wolverine, but thanks to the specially designed Krakoan bio-tech diving suits, even Logan is able to join the party under the sea.

Normally, an aquatic adventure would put Logan at a disadvantage. This diving suit helps Wolverine save the day, but keeping it around could permanently save his life.

Water Is One Wolverine’s Greatest Weaknesses

Logan Isn’t The Best There At Swimming

Due to the incredible weight of his adamantium bones, swimming isn’t the easiest thing for Logan – in fact, he’s notoriously bad at it. But the biggest threat for Wolverine is the fact that drowning is one of the few surefire ways to kill him. And without this specialized Krakoan suit, there’s nothing to stop the same thing from happening to him. After all, Wolverine’s abilities grant him the capacity to heal from practically any wound, but it can’t do much to restore his brain’s memories and higher functions once it’s been suffocated.

The major benefit of the Krakoan armor is that its flora-based tech continuously feeds Logan oxygen, allowing him to operate unimpeded underwater without fear of drowning. Wolverine is incredibly dangerous as long as his enemies are within his range, and this suit opens up a whole new arena of combat for him to take the battle to his foes; or in the case of X-Force #50, his old friends. Ultimately, Wolverine’s abilities are as iconic as he is, but despite his durability, he’s not the perfect physical specimen, and this suit compensates for one of his major weaknesses.

Wolverines Weren’t Built For Water

Logan Needs To Keep This Suit Handy

It’s not often that Wolverine is forced to submerge beneath the waves, but it’s never a great time for him whenever he does. Given his low-tech nature, Logan has never been a huge fan of fancy gadgets, but considering his overall vulnerability to water, as well as the chance that the mutants potentially be ditching Krakoan tech after the Fall of X, Logan may want to keep a spare diving suit handy. Because without this special technology, every undersea battle for Marvel ComicsWolverine is going to be sink or swim.
