In his storied history in the pages of Marvel Comics, Wolverine has never been one to make friends easily; however, one moment shows that he hates one MCU hero potentially more than anyone else. During Wolverine’s birthday celebrations, Spider-Man is the only hero not invited to the festivities, so Logan’s attitude wouldn’t sour. The hilarious scene revealed that Wolverine’s constant annoyance with Spider-Man is very much a real thing.
Wolverine and Spider-Man have battled alongside each other on multiple occasions, and while they’ve done some great work together, Logan has never been a big fan of the web-slinger. While Wolverine is one of Marvel’s most serious and, frankly, grumpy heroes, Spider-Man’s personality is the opposite. Peter Parker always cracks jokes and tries to find levity in serious situations. Spider-Man’s attitude has rubbed Wolverine the wrong way for multiple reasons, and in one hilarious story, his hatred for Spider-Man was proven in a hilarious manner.
In Wolverine #5.1 by Jason Aaron, Jefte Paolo, Nathan Fairbairn, and VC’s Cory Petit from Marvel Comics, a surprise party is arranged for Logan’s birthday, as heroes from the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Avengers are among those gathering at the celebration. However, one hero who didn’t get an invitation was Spider-Man, as the comic reveals that the web-slinger is alone in Avengers Headquarters, wondering where his fellow heroes have gone. While Wolverine’s girlfriend at the time, Melita Garner, arranged the surprise party, her knowing that Logan hates Spider-Man most of his fellow costumed allies ends up meaning he’s the only hero not invited to the birthday celebrations.

While Wolverine and Spider-Man have worked together on teams before, he probably doesn’t hate the web-slinger like he hates some villains. However, among his fellow heroes, if he had to pick one hero he hated the most among them that truly gets under his skin, there’s little question Wolverine would pick Spider-Man. Their personalities don’t jive – which creates an interesting dynamic for readers but one of pure annoyance for Wolverine.
Wolverine will tolerate Spider-Man as much as he can when fighting alongside him, but when it comes to his birthday celebrations, the web-slinger’s lack of an invitation, while pretty much every other Marvel hero is invited, shows Logan hates him more than most good guys. While Wolverine would pick Spider-Man to team up with as opposed to a villain, when selecting which heroes he wants to spend time with, Peter Parker is probably on the bottom of his list, simply because of how much he irritates Logan.
