Wolverine and Deadpool will soon team up on the big screen – and they will be reuniting in the pages of Marvel Comics as well, with their latest adventure promising to be their most brutal, blood-soaked battle yet. Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII will be a three-issue miniseries, pitting the “wildest duo in comics” against a mysterious new threat.

The advance solicitation for Deadpool & Wolverine #1 teases that a new antagonist, “Delta,” is out to get Deadpool, and that Wolverine is going to get dragged into the middle of the conflict. Notably, the synopsis for the issue suggests that “the most intensely mismatched team-up in comics” will “undergo a radical change.”

Change is good. But as he sets his sights on Deadpool, and Wolverine is caught up in the plot, is the third time really the charm, or the curse? • Get ready for WWIII to erupt on the scene with the wildest duo in comics from legends Joe Kelly (Deadpool, Uncanny X-Men) and Adam Kubert (Wolverine, Uncanny X-Men)!

Deadpool & Wolverine Prepare To Unleash WWIII On The Marvel Universe

Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII #1 will ship with several exciting variant covers, including one from Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, who recently announced he would be taking the character on one more wild ride of his own, before “retiring from Deadpool.” Marvel has also revealed variant covers from artists Inhyuk Lee, Todd Nauck, and Gabriele Dell’Otto. Details of the plot remain tightly under wraps, in advance of issue #1’s May release, though writer Joe Kelly and artist Adam Kubert can be expected to turn in an over-the-top action-thriller, one that emphasizes what makes Wolverine and Deadpool such a great duo.

Logan and Wade’s team-ups are, of course, primarily characterized by the wild gap in their dispositions. Wolverine is a natural straight-man for Deadpool’s brand of high-energy comedy, in a way that is similar to Cable and Deadpool’s classic dynamic. Any distinction between the two falls away, however, once they are on the field of battle, as Deadpool has time and time again proven that, even if Wolverine remains the “Best There Is,” he is a close second. Previous co-starring stories have been bloody affairs, but Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII will seemingly set a new benchmark in the gore category.

WWIII Will Be The Perfect Lead-In To Deadpool & Wolverine’s Cinematic Adventure

Marvel fans are already excited for the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, and WWIII will be the perfect thing to continue stoking their anticipation, as it leads up to the movie’s theatrical debut in July. Marvel is also running the “Weapon X-Traction” story, featuring the two, as a series of back-ups across various Marvel titles, starting in July to co-incide with the film’s release. Readers and moviegoers alike will have their hands full, as Deadpool and Wolverine take on the entire Multiverse, in more than one medium, as part of one of the year’s most exciting publishing initiatives.

Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII#1 will be released on May 1, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
