Wolf Pack Trailer Teases Teen Wolf Creator’s Very Different Werewolf Show

The new trailer for Wolf Pack finds Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) embroiled in a savage mystery. Created by the Teen Wolf helmer Jeff Davis, Wolf Pack is based on the book of the same name by Edo van Belkom. The show centers around four teenagers who find their lives upended after a sinister creature is set loose during a highway traffic jam amid the Californian wildfires, thereby triggering their unexplainable transformation into werewolves. Gellar plays Kristin Ramsey, an arson investigator probing into the cause behind the wildfires, while Westworld star Rodrigo Santoro plays Sheriff Garrett Briggs, who joins Ramsey in her investigation while trying to trace down all the teenagers who disappeared during the fateful traffic jam.

Now, Paramount+ has unveiled the official trailer for the show, offering a look at the main Wolf Pack cast members, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson, Tyler Lawrence Gray in character as Everett Lang, Blake Navarro, Luna Briggs, and Harlan Briggs as they are drawn to one another by their secret identities.

The trailer emphasizes the ensuing chaos due to the wildfires and its connection to the teenagers changing form under the moon. Gellar’s Ramsey is originally clueless about the supernatural happenings. Still, as she pursues the investigation with Briggs, she realizes that the case is considerably more complicated than anticipated. Watch the trailer for Wolf Pack above:

Everything We Know About Wolf Pack

Wolf Pack Trailer Teases Teen Wolf Creator’s Very Different Werewolf Show

The new Wolf Pack trailer undoubtedly presents a compelling mystery with breathtaking visuals. Still, while all the supernatural action and drama unfold, the juicy and lunatic “teen” element in Wolf Pack remains quite pronounced. It’s clear from the Wolf Pack trailer that the show presents an updated, darker take on the werewolf lore, packed with twisty romances and where the lines between the right and wrong are pretty blurry.

From the trailer, it’s hard to predict what the team-ups in Wolf Pack would look like. Of course, the central teenagers will stick together as they try to figure out the mystery behind their transformation while keeping their monstrous identities a secret from the world. But whether they get support from Gellar’s Kristin Ramsey or the two parties end up on opposing sides will only become apparent once Wolf Pack begins streaming. Gellar has done a commendable job protecting Wolf Pack‘s younger cast by launching an intervention program against verbal and physical abuse. But on the screen, it seems that, at least, initially, her character will be wary of the young werewolves and would lean on Sheriff Briggs’ judgment in her dealings with the central quartet.

While the trailer masks a lot in terms of the story, and the intentions and ambitions of its enigmatic characters, one thing it makes clear is that the narrative is set in a completely new and separate universe. Despite reports on the contrary, Davis has confirmed that Wolf Pack is not a Teen Wolf spin-off, so fans shouldn’t bother exploring any connections between the two series. While comparisons are inevitable between the two, the Wolf Pack trailer has more-or-less established the idea that the new show has an entirely different ring compared to Davis’ earlier work. Whether this new spin on the werewolf genre resonates with audiences will become apparent in less than two weeks, as Wolf Pack is scheduled to premiere on Paramount+ on January 26.
