Witcher 3 Mod Introduces Netflix’s Yennefer of Vengerberg

Witcher 3 Mod Introduces Netflix’s Yennefer of Vengerberg

Modder WitcherSeb recently unleashed a new PC mod that adds Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer from the Netflix series to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Since the Netflix show’s Season 1 premiere in December 2019, The Witcher 3 has received several Henry Cavill mods, many of which simply add the actor’s face to the regular character model.

Witcher 3 mods seem a dime a dozen now, as they range from quality-of-life improvements and lore additions to graphical overhauls and new gameplay mechanics. These types of fan-made projects gained another uptick in popularity in the weeks and months following the Netflix series’ debut, a release that worked wonders for the game franchise. Most notably, the show’s success boosted The Witcher 3 sales considerably, resulting in a 554 percent year-on-year sales increase in December 2019. It makes sense, then, that the recent launch of The Witcher Season 2 has renewed interest in CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed 2015 opus.

WitcherSeb’s “Anya Chalotra Netflix Yennefer” mod for The Witcher 3 is live on Nexus Mods, introducing the likeness of Netflix’s Yen to the interactive adventure. The modder walked a fine line while developing such a mod, trying to capture Chalotra’s appearance while simultaneously staying true to The Witcher 3’s art style. Screenshots show the mod features a makeup version and no makeup version, along with options for Yennefer’s “modded” hairstyle and original flowing, raven locks. While the mod does mesh well with Yennefer’s Witcher 3 appearance, it still veers into the realm of the uncanny valley. The “Anya Chalotra Netflix Yennefer” mod counts among the more impressive Netflix-inspired mods for the RPG, though. As such, PC players are bound to have a blast mixing and matching other fan-made creations that bridge the gap between the two worlds.

CD Projekt Red launched The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on consoles and PC in May 2015. The groundbreaking open-world adventure instantly became a classic, one that’s sold in excess of 30 million units worldwide. That impressive figure is bound to continue climbing in the months ahead, especially once the Polish studio releases the long-awaited PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades, which are now scheduled to arrive sometime in the second quarter of next year.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms; its PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions should launch in Q2 2022.
