Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood & Honey 2 Image Reveals Killer Pooh’s Costly Redesign: “Humongous Difference”

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 has revealed the new design of its killer Pooh, which director Rhys Frake-Waterfield describes as an expensive undertaking. The original slasher film featuring Pooh and Piglet as the main villains had a budget of less than $100,000, giving the villains the look of people in masks. However, the upcoming sequel will have a significantly larger budget, allowing for even more detail in the Hundred Acre Wood murderers.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed a new image of Pooh in the upcoming Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. This new design for the character is much more detailed than the first film, something Frake-Waterfield spoke with THR about. Check out the full image alongside the director’s comments below:

Number two is better than number one in every single aspect. Because we’ve gone into this knowing on what platform scale it’s going, whereas in the first one, we didn’t really have much of an idea. We obviously didn’t expect it to go to the masses it did. This time we’ve gone into it knowing that will happen, so a lot more time can be dedicated towards it. I’ve not really worked on anything else this year. And that’s why all areas are now a massive jump up compared to the first. For example, the look of the creatures is quite an important thing. Before we had a mask bought online, some cleaning gloves from the shop downstairs and a red lumberjack shirt from Amazon. The whole monster was about £630 ($770). But this time we have people doing the prosthetics — it’s a company that has worked on Harry Potter’s Voldemort and Star Wars. And they’ve been in charge of the redesigns of the creature. And that’s why Pooh looks a bit more scary. There’s an extra level of detail there.

The prosthetics alone for the creatures ended up being over $20,000. So it’s a humongous difference. But it’s worth the investment because that’s your creature. That’s what people are watching horror for. So cost-wise, I’d have to say it’s like probably over 10 to 15 times the original.

Why Blood & Honey 2 Will Be Bigger Than The First Movie

Winnie the pooh blood and honey kills

The new design for Pooh in the slasher sequel underscores just how much higher a budget the new movie will have compared to the first. Following Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey‘s cliffhanger ending, the yellow bear is still on a quest for revenge after Christopher Robin abandoned him and his friends long ago. His redesign will increase the creepiness of the movie while reflecting just how big a budget it can afford.

Murderous versions of Owl and Tigger will also be joining Pooh on his quest for vengeance this time around. Images of both characters have been previously revealed, underscoring the level of detail each one will have. Frake-Waterfield’s admittance to a budget that could be around $1 million means there may be even more surprises in store when the movie comes out.

While the kill count for the first Pooh slasher ended up at 15 deaths, Frake-Waterfield has previously teased even more kills than in the first one. This means Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will be a much gorier event, matching the new level of detail in Pooh and his friends. Just how much the increased budget paid off will be clearer when the movie is released on February 14, 2024.
