Will There Be A Tales Of The Jedi Season 2?

Warning! SPOILERS for Tales of the Jedi. With Tales of the Jedi being unusually brief for a Star Wars series, Tales of the Jedi season 2 could expand far beyond the scope of just covering Count Dooku and Ahsoka Tano if it were to happen. Released in October 2022, Tales of the Jedi is a short, 6-episode series animated in a similar style to The Clone Wars and the Bad Batch. Like most animated Star Wars shows, Dave Filoni wrote the majority of the series and was a crucial figure in its development. His initial ideas for the series were to explain where Count Dooku was during Episode I, as well as to show Ahsoka’s origins.

It is very likely that audiences will get to see Tales of the Jedi season 2, since the first 6 episodes have only scratched the surface of two Jedi in particular. With hundreds and hundreds of other popular Jedi just waiting to have their stories told, there’s no reason to stop after covering the origins of only two. With the slightly slower pace of the series, Tales of the Jedi has the unique opportunity to flesh out the stories it tells without rushing through its premise to get to the action – setting up Tales Of The Jedi season 2 perfectly, and potentially many seasons more.

There’s A Good Chance Tales Of The Jedi Season 2 Can Happen

Will There Be A Tales Of The Jedi Season 2?

With the massive success of the Clone Wars, many praised Dave Filoni for saving Anakin Skywalker’s character. Ever since then, he has overseen and assisted in almost all animated Star Wars content — with Tales of the Jedi being no exception. Star Wars shows rarely only get just one season, with shows like The Bad Batch and Star Wars: Visions getting additional seasons announced a few months after their initial release. From his animated endeavors to his live-action shows like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka, Filoni has been as active as ever in Star Wars content creation. These precedents establish solid grounds to support the idea of Tales Of The Jedi season 2 being both possible and probable.

When Tales Of The Jedi Season 2 Could Release

Other animated series like The Bad Batch and Star Wars: Visions have a two-year gap between season 1 and season 2. Judging by the gap between those shows, Tales of the Jedi season 2 could arrive in late 2024 or early 2025. That being said, despite changing how viewers see Revenge of the Sith and other Star Wars movies, Tales of the Jedi is about half the length of most of the other animated Star Wars animated shows. With Tales of the Jedi being only 6 episodes in length, and each episode being only 10-17 minutes, it’s likely that the series could be more quickly produced. It may be Disney’s intention to release smaller, shorter series more frequently than their larger stories, meaning Tales of the Jedi season 2 could become an almost-yearly show.

Which Jedi Should Tales Of The Jedi Season 2 Focus On Next?

Plo Koon in Star Wars The Clone Wars

With hundreds of popular Jedi to explore, Tales of the Jedi has infinite possibilities regarding who the series could explore next. The series tends to deal with the origins of each Jedi, like the fall of Count Dooku and Ahsoka’s life before the Jedi Temple. Going off of this, it could be interesting to explore Obi-Wan’s life before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, such as his escapades with Duchess Satine and how he came close to leaving the Jedi Order to be with her.

Aside from Obi-Wan, it could be equally interesting to expound on one of Dave Filoni’s favorite Jedi: Plo Koon. Master Plo Koon was a key figure in finding and bringing Ahsoka to the Jedi Temple and helped inspire many clones in the earlier episodes of The Clone Wars. It’s also possible to explore Jedi who do not appear in the Skywalker Saga, such as the famously complicated story of Darth Revan — who is similar to Count Dooku in that he is a fallen Jedi. Regardless of who Disney chooses next, Tales of the Jedi season 2 has countless story possibilities to explore.
