Will Ferrell Channels 20-Year-Old Movie Role & DJs A Real Frat Party In Very On-Brand Video

Will Ferrell channels his Old School role by DJing a frat party in a hilarious new video. Released in 2003, Old School follows the story of three friends–played by Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, and Luke Wilson–who open a fraternity house near their old college in an attempt to relive their glory days. Though the Todd Phillips-directed comedy is far from a critical darling, Old School remains one of the goofy Ferrell roles that defined his early career.

In a classic Ferrell move, the actor relives these glory days once more by DJing a real-life frat party. In a Twitter video released by edmtrain, Ferrell is seen in the DJ spot at a real University of Southern California (USC) frat party.

Ferrell doesn’t break character as he stands among the partying teenage and 20-something-year-old boys. Clad in sunglasses and a black jacket, Ferrell nonchalantly DJs as some boys capture the moment on camera.

Will Ferrell Continues to Bring His Goofy Energy On and Off-Screen

Ferrell himself attended USC, likening the moment more directly to his film Old School, where he, Vaughn, and Wilson create the frat at their alma mater. While hilarious, Ferrell’s DJ gig is also a gracious way to honor where he went to school, graduating with a degree in sports information that is far afield from his career today. Since Old School, Ferrell has remained a goofball on and off the screen, and this most recent video is no exception.

Ferrell graduated from USC in 1990, and went on to work as a sportscaster before landing a series of one-off TV roles before joining Saturday Night Live. Riding on his SNL fame, Ferrell received a series of comedy film roles, including in Austin Powers, Zoolander, and the classic Christmas film Elf, which was released in the same year as Old School. Ferrell later reclaimed his sportscaster fame of yesteryear when he played the titular character in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

Now, Ferrell continues his career in comedy, acting in numerous character roles in both lead and supporting roles. Most recently, Ferrell portrayed an outlandish rendition of the Mattel CEO in the hit 2023 film Barbie and the voice of a dog in the rauncy comedy Strays. Whether as a USC DJ or a bumbling parent in The LEGO Movie, Ferrell never fails to make his audiences chuckle.
