Carnie Wilson Reveals Why Wilson Phillips Joined The Masked Singer
In an interview with HollywoodLife, Carnie revealed why the group decided to join The Masked Singer season 8 as the Lambs. She explained that “There are a lot of different TV opportunities and opportunities that artists have. I think the whole surprise element with it is so appealing. It’s so much fun.” Carnie also said the experience was unique, and they would have regretted not doing the show. She added that The Masked Singer was “a wonderful way to get exposure, especially with a group like ours, where we’ve been around for over three decades. It’s pretty flattering to have a major network, a very popular television show, want to hear you sing again.”
Carnie Wilson Was Asked To Do The Masked Singer Solo In The Past
Carnie went on to say that Wilson Phillips has never done any show like The Masked Singer before. She said, “It’s something that you would not normally do in your life and you get out of your comfort zone when you do something like that. It’s good to challenge yourself.” She said that they were all excited to take on that challenge until they got into costume. “We went out the first day and Wendy and I said, ‘We want out! We can’t do it.’ It was so [expletive] hard,” noting that the 12-hour days were tough and grueling, but worth it in the end. Carnie also revealed that she was offered to come on the show a couple of times as a solo performer, but she “just didn’t feel right about doing it by myself.” She said that she was too scared to go on The Masked Singer, and that she has stage fright when it comes to singing. “I feel very insecure, and it’s just my own demons,” Carnie added.
Wendy Wilson Says That Wilson Phillips Was Honored To Place Second
For Wilson Phillips, placing second felt just as good as winning. Wendy said that they “were just honored to be in that position at the end. We didn’t know who Harp was, but we knew she had a great voice and that we were up against someone really, really powerful.” Due to The Masked Singer season 8 format, Wilson Phillips only competed against Amber during the semi-finals and on the finale. It was arguably the strongest finale match-up in the history of the show, as both acts were so talented.
The Masked Singer season 8 reveal of Wilson Phillips as the Lambs was one of the greatest ever. Although the show was challenging for them, fans were thrilled that they were able to hold on and make it to the finale. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a Wilson Phillips revival in the music world.
