It’s been over three weeks since Guy “Dr. Disrespect” Beahm was permanently banned on Twitch for unknown reasons. As sexual assault allegations continue to top headlines in games media, rumors are circulating like wildfire, but there still isn’t any definitive cause for why the enamored streamer was ditched by Twitch. Dr. Disrespect spoke out on Twitter the day after the ban confirming he was not notified on the specific reason behind the ban. Viewers who subscribed to Dr. Disrespect’s Twitch page received refunds after the ban was set in place, a first for the company.
During his final minutes on stream, Dr. Disrespect turned heads with his promotion of a conspiracy theorist’s documentary followed by some despondent, awkward rambling. While that seems like a potential cause for expulsion, the streamer received temporary bans for arguably much worse actions like streaming in a public restroom at E3 2019. Dr. Disrespect’s wife also posted a heartfelt Instagram post after the ban, quelling most speculation on if this had to do with his cheating scandal in 2017.
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Dr. Disrespect revealed a few new details on his future projects, along with the lack of communication he’s received from Twitch. He says he’s received no word at all from Twitch and has never been warned for bringing up controversial topics like David Icke’s conspiracy documentaries. Before going into further detail on the controversial topics, Beahm was cut off by his publicist for “Getting really close to dangerous territory.“
Dr. Disrespect’s Future Plans & New Developments
When asked if Dr. Disrespect’s Twitch ban was the result of someone alleging harassment, Dr. Disrespect says he’s not interested in engaging in crazy speculation. It seems the content creator is focused on evolving the character and launching a “Doc 3.0.” Beahm mentioned he’s not interested in any exclusivity deals but is looking at potential projects outside of the streaming space to combine with his streaming persona. He confirmed that the ban from Twitch is in fact permanent.
A few streamers and industry analysts like Rod Breslau have claimed to know the reason behind Dr. Disrespect’s ban, but have all remained silent due to potential legal reasons. Discord also ended their deal with Dr. Disrespect right after Twitch’s ban went viral. Unless these parties speak out, the reason behind the biggest ban in Twitch’s history could remain in a legal vault for years to come.
