Why The Masked Singer Season 8 Is Better Than Season 7

Why The Masked Singer Season 8 Is Better Than Season 7

The Masked Singer season 8 has only aired a few episodes, but based on what they’ve shown so far, it’s a lot better than the previous season. As always, the show introduced a different format for its new season. Last season, the show separated contestants into three groups, Team Good, Team Bad, and Team Cuddly. Fans weren’t impressed, and the show scrapped the idea for season 8. Instead, they implemented theme nights, cast more contestants than ever before, and included exciting celebrity guests like The Masked Singer season 1 finalist Donny Osmond and Full House actress Jodie Sweetin.

With the new format, The Masked Singer season 8 is a huge improvement. The most exciting part of the show will always be the end of the episodes when one of the contestants is unmasked, and fans get to see which celebrity is behind the costume. However, theme nights add another layer of excitement that wasn’t there before. For Vegas Night, all the panelists were dressed in their most fun outfits, and contestants incorporated aspects of Sin City into their performances. TV Night was even more exciting with the appearances of Jodie and Beverly Hills, 90210 star Tori Spelling, who competed on The Masked Singer season 1. The episode also had exciting reveals to fit the theme with The Brady Bunch brothers and Shark Tank‘s Daymond John being unmasked.

The Masked Singer Fans Didn’t Love Season 7 As Much As Past Seasons

Why The Masked Singer Season 8 Is Better Than Season 7

The Masked Singer season 7 wasn’t nearly as much fun and received a lot of criticism from fans. The season didn’t put much effort into switching things up, and their three-team format didn’t add anything to the show. It barely seemed to play into the season at all. Fans also felt that the celebrities weren’t as notable as they were in the past. Some of the most celebrated contestants of the season were Shaggy and En Vogue. However, fans weren’t so familiar with contestants like Duff Goldman. Past seasons had performers like NSYNC member Joey Fatone and the legendary Dionne Warwick. Luckily, season 8 of the show has delivered more recognizable faces like Joey’s bandmate Chris Kirkpatrick, and the actress fans believe is behind Harp, Glee actress Amber Riley.

Season 8 could arguably be the best season of the show since season 1. The theme nights give it a fresh take and offer a new layer of creativity that the show has never seen before. As the series progressed, it was starting to get a little stale and definitely needed something to make it feel new again. So far, season 8 has made the show feel brand new while also maintaining the aspects that fans love so much.

However, for some fans, the new format is still not enough. Some have suggested The Masked Singer ends its run soon as they think it’s getting boring and producers are running out of ideas. Fans have also complained about panelists, especially Ken Jeong. While some find his outrageous guesses entertaining, others find them unbearable and think the panelist is ruining the show. As they say, you can’t please everyone. However, most would agree The Masked Singer season 8 is a huge step up from season 7.

The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 pm EST on Fox.
