Why The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner Shouldn’t Choose Theresa Nist

The Golden Bachelor’s Gerry Turner has a difficult decision to make between Theresa Nist and Faith Martin, and it seems that, even though she’s a wonderful woman, Gerry shouldn’t choose Theresa. After spending three fantastic hometown dates with Theresa, Faith, and Leslie Fhima, Gerry made the decision to give Leslie a rose at the rose ceremony. However, when it came time to eliminate someone, he broke down in tears and left the room, leaving Bachelor Nation with a cliffhanger.

Throughout The Golden Bachelor, Gerry has been building a strong connection with Theresa. He gave her his first one-on-one date in which they bonded about the losses of their spouses, but looked to the future with hope. They even participated in a joyous flash mob, in which they danced to Journey’s classic song, “Don’t Stop Believing.” Gerry and Theresa have continued to get closer, and she’s even told him that she loves him. Her hometown date was beautiful, and he fit right in with her family. Despite this, there are a couple of reasons why Theresa might not be the right woman for Gerry.

Theresa Was Involved In Drama

The Golden Bachelor has been relatively drama-free as compared with other Bachelor Nation shows. However, there was some conflict between Theresa and Kathy Swarts when Kathy perceived Theresa sharing her experiences with Gerry as boasting. While Theresa sincerely thought she was sharing her experience with her friends, Kathy felt that Theresa was acting as though she’d already won Gerry’s heart and that no one else had a chance with him. When Kathy expressed how upset she was to Gerry, she didn’t mention Theresa’s name, but he eventually found out that it was Theresa she was talking about.

When Gerry spoke to Theresa, she explained to him that she didn’t mean to cause any harm. He told her that if she genuinely knew in her heart that she didn’t mean to upset anyone, then she shouldn’t feel bad about what happened. However, Gerry was disappointed that Theresa was involved in any kind of drama. Although it was just a minor argument between Theresa and Kathy, and Theresa certainly isn’t malicious in any way and has a good heart, Leslie and Faith haven’t had any confrontations with the other women throughout the season. Gerry might rather choose someone who hasn’t been involved in conflict.

Gerry Hasn’t Told Theresa He Loves Her

Although Gerry told both Leslie and Faith that he loved them, he didn’t say those three little words to Theresa. In fact, when Theresa’s daughter asked him if he was falling in love with Theresa, he told her that it was such a hard question, and he wasn’t even sure if he knew what it felt like to fall in love again.

Gerry confided in her that the last time that he felt that depth of feeling and warmth was in 1968 when he first met his wife. He wondered if his strong connection with Theresa was exactly what it was supposed to feel like, and he didn’t know at that moment. Gerry did later say in his confessional that he loved Theresa, but he didn’t say it to her.

During their hometown dates, Gerry told both Leslie and Faith without hesitation that he loved them. He even told Faith that he loved her in front of her whole family. At the rose ceremony, Theresa told host Jesse Palmer that she told Gerry that she was falling in love with him. She said that hoped that he felt the same way, but she hadn’t yet heard the words from his lips. It’s possible that Gerry was waiting for the right moment to tell Theresa he loved her, but the way he expressed it to Leslie and Faith without holding back, might not be a good sign for Theresa.

Theresa is a lovely woman, and could possibly be a good match for Gerry. One of their biggest moments was when the headlights went out on his car when he was driving on the freeway, and Theresa calmed him by putting her hand on his shoulder. This really made an impression on Gerry. However, based on some of the things that have happened throughout The Golden Bachelor, and the fact that he hasn’t told her that he loves her, either Faith or Leslie might be a better choice for him. Whatever happens in the end, hopefully Gerry and Theresa will find the true love that they’re searching for.

The Golden Bachelor airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
