Why Priscilla Presley Never Remarried After Elvis

Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla detailed the life of Priscilla Presley and her highly publicized relationship with the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. The biopic has garnered a lot of attention, and it spans the years Priscilla was with Elvis, from their first meeting when she was 14 years old in 1959 to their divorce in 1973. The film’s scope, however, doesn’t cover what happened to Priscilla Presley after she left Elvis, and who she wound up dating before and after their divorce. Naturally, there was a lot of story to cover in the film, but Priscilla’s life didn’t end after her relationship with the singer fell apart.

Priscilla was released in theaters November 4 and received mostly positive reviews from critics. The film, starring Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi, is based on Priscilla Presley’s memoir, Elvis and Me, and documents the ups and downs of the couple’s relationship. Coppola’s film, however, doesn’t touch upon Priscilla’s dating life in the wake of her divorce from Elvis, from whom she legally separated in 1972. Priscilla had a plethora of romantic relationships in the decades after her relationship with Elvis ended, but she has famously never remarried. With the biopic detailing the actress’ past, the question of her never remarrying has cropped back up, and Priscilla has shared her reasons.

Priscilla Presley Never Remarried Because Of Elvis

Priscilla Presley has been outspoken about the love she had for her ex-husband. Priscilla ultimately chose not to get remarried after Elvis because she knew that no one she was with “could ever match him” (via People). Priscilla also didn’t want to get remarried, and believed that Elvis wouldn’t have been able to handle it if she had. Priscilla made a vow to never get married again to anyone, at least not while Elvis still lived. But even after the singer’s death in 1977, at the age of 42, Priscilla honored the vow she made because she claimed she didn’t have “any desire” to be with anyone else in matrimony.

Who Priscilla Dated After Divorcing Elvis Presley

Priscilla had a couple of affairs before she divorced Elvis Presley, one of which was with a dance instructor named Mark and the second with karate teacher Mike Stone. Priscilla remained with Mike after officially divorcing Elvis in 1973, and the couple lived together immediately after until they ended their relationship in 1975. Priscilla Presley also briefly dated Rob Kardashian, an attorney who famously defended O.J. Simpson and the late father of Khloé, Rob, Kourtney, and Kim Kardashian, from 1975 to 1976. Thereafter, Priscilla met actor and model Michael Edwards, with whom the actress began a relationship with him in 1978.

They were together for eight years, but Edwards was not who Priscilla believed him to be. The model ended up writing a memoir detailing their life together, including his inappropriate sexual feelings toward daughter Lisa Marie Presley. According to Edwards’ memoir, Priscilla had flings with both Indiana Jones actor Harrison Ford and singer Julio Iglesias. In 1984, Priscilla met and began a relationship with Brazilian producer Marco Garibaldi. The pair welcomed their only son and child, musician Navarone Garibaldi Garcia, in 1987. In the 2010s, Priscilla dated actor Richie Palmer, and she’s been connected to actor Toby Anstis and American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe, a long-time TV executive.

Priscilla Presley’s Longest Relationship Wasn’t With Elvis

Although Priscilla Presley’s relationship with Elvis has always been central to the public figure’s life, it isn’t at all her longest relationship. Priscilla was with Elvis for about a decade altogether, from 1962, when she first moved to Graceland, to their separation in July 1972. However, it was Priscilla’s relationship with Marco Garibaldi that lasted the longest. The couple may have never gotten married, but Priscilla and Garibaldi were together for a little over two decades, from 1984 until their split in 2006. There isn’t much information regarding their relationship, as the pair remained rather private for the most part.

To that end, Priscilla’s relationship with Garibaldi was the opposite of the one she shared with Elvis Presley, which was so often in the spotlight, including their heavily publicized wedding. Whereas Elvis and Priscilla’s relationship was criticized and dissected, her romantic life with Garibaldi was largely kept out of the public eye. Garibaldi was Priscilla’s only long-term relationship after Elvis, though he didn’t like Priscilla playing her ex-husband’s songs while they were together according to their son (via People). After the couple’s split, Priscilla dated other men, but hasn’t had a long-term romance with anyone since then. The reason for their break-up is unclear, though there are rumors of infidelity.
