Perhaps one of the most interesting clues in A Murder at the End of the World that could explain why Lee has a fake passport and a wig is in the show’s opening episode. While toasting at the retreat’s premiere, Lee says, “to finding a way out,” which suggests she has an escape plan. This could mean that Andy is keeping her captive at the retreat, which would make sense given how captivity is a recurring theme in several Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij shows and movies. Why Andy is keeping her captive is yet to be known, but the show’s constant emphasis on environmental issues suggests that Andy might be a little too paranoid about the climate crisis and may have miscalculated the arrival of global disaster.
