Marvel Comics Confirms Captain America Is Life’s True Champion

He Values Life Above All Else

Captain America lore changed significantly with the introduction of Change Agents, which revealed that Steve Rogers was a force for good before ever picking up the shield. He was born destined to make a significant impact on the world, and being Life’s chosen champion seems like a natural progression. While Change Agents, in general, are responsible for significant changes and events, Steve’s position is unique. He’s a superhero, routinely facing threats that seek to end lives or destroy the world, yet nothing has ever made him alter course away from his main objective: saving people.

While he was right to point out that others like Captain Marvel and Thor are technically more powerful than he is, no one else has such a singular, unwavering direction. Thor’s oyalties are to Asgard, and Carol Danvers has her hands full with problems throughout the galaxy. Both sometimes make hard decisions that result in losing people, whereas Steve Rogers does everything within his power to save as many as he can, and offer them a second chance. That quality transcends the current Captain America title, and it’s a noted force in timelines like Avengers: Twilight, too.

Captain America Will Always Sacrifice Himself For Others

That Makes Him Marvel’s Ultimate Protector

Captain America stands, shield out, on a burning theater stage.

Lyra entrusts Steve with protecting the other Change Agents because nothing will stop him. Once Steve Rogers believes in something, he’s locked in, and if innocent lives are in play…he will lay down his own without hesitation if it means protecting them. The very quality that made him worthy of the Captain America title also means he’s Life’s greatest defender. No external events can pull him away, as nobody digs in their heels as hard as Steve Rogers when faced with adversity. Captain America values innocent lives above all else, and it makes him one of Marvel’s most powerful heroes.

Captain America

Initially debuting in 1940, Captain America is the patriotically themed superhero who has shared the title with only a few individuals. Beginning with Steve Rogers, Captain America’s birth resulted from a frail man taking part in an experimental U.S. Army super-soldier trial, which imbued him with super-human abilities. The character is often depicted wielding a nigh unbreakable and aerodynamic shield made of vibranium that they use to defend and attack their foes.
