Why Aussie Was Right To Leave Mildred On The Ultimatum: Queer Love

Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 episode 5.

The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 saw five new couples forming, but one pair didn’t last the entire three weeks, as Aussie Chau walked out on Mildred Woody. Aussie appeared on the Netflix show with Sam Mark before they split and Aussie moved in with Mildred, while Sam moved in with Mildred’s ex Tiffany Der. However, only Aussie and Mildred didn’t last the entire three weeks, though Aussie seemed to make the right choice when she left.

Aussie and Sam were one of five couples to enter The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1. Along with Tiffany and Mildred, they were joined by Xander Boger and Vanessa Papa, Lexi Goldberg and Raelyn Cheung-Sutton, and Mal Wright and Yoly Rojas. Sam had originally issued a marriage ultimatum to Aussie, who wasn’t yet ready for the commitment. Meanwhile, Mildred issued one to Tiffany, as she wanted to get married. However, Mildred and Aussie ended up becoming a couple despite their different viewes on marriage. At the same time, their relationship ended up being the shortest on the show.

Mildred Was Being Too Aggressive

Aussie and Mildred were tasked with living together in a trial marriage for three weeks on The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1. However, Aussie chose to move out early due to Mildred’s behavior. This seemed to be the correct choice, as Mildred became very aggressive. Mildred demanded communication, which often led to her raising her voice and trying to force conversations. Mildred’s ex Tiffany discovered that after moving out and living with Sam for several weeks, they were able to shout less and be more calm. Therefore, Mildred’s aggression appears to be a real concern for her partners.

Aussie Knew Boundaries

Why Aussie Was Right To Leave Mildred On The Ultimatum: Queer Love

Aussie received a lot of flack from Mildred on The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 for not being a clear communicator. However, Aussie knew boundaries, and when to walk away. Though Aussie didn’t improve their communication skills, they did draw line when it came to Mildred’s aggression, which bordered on harassment. Mildred had previously been informed by Sam that Aussie needed space. When Mildred didn’t respect this space, Aussie made the choice to leave rather than fight.

At the end of the day, both Aussie and Mildred have issues to sort out. Aussie is fortunate to have found Sam, as Sam knows how to give Aussie space and communicate with Aussie on their own time. On the other hand, Mildred and Tiffany have a ton of work to do. Tiffany appeared to benefit from being around someone like Sam, who is calm and understanding rather than demanding. Overall, Aussie made a smart choice on The Ultimatum: Queer Love season 1 by leaving an unhealthy situation before it got worse.
