Why A Mandalorian Armor Skin In Fortnite Is Basically Inevitable

A recent discovery by dataminers indicates that a Disney+ promotion with Fortnite may soon be unveiled. While the leaked information currently only contains clues about Fortnite players being able to claim a few free months of Disney+, the news makes it all the more likely that a Mandalorian armor skin may soon be heading to the battle royale game.

Fortnite is well known for its crossover skins. The purchasable cosmetic items are a great marketing tool, as millions of people, many of them teens and younger, play the game every day. Fortnite has featured a wide range of crossover skins, from DC’s Aquaman to the Demogorgon from Stranger Things to the legendary John Wick. Sometimes the skins accompany in-game events, such as when a series of Deadpool challenges eventually led players to unlock a Deadpool skin.

Given the many times Disney-owned properties have had crossover skins and events in Fortnite, a Mandalorian skin seems like a natural fit. Disney-owned Marvel has had many in-game events, such as when an Avengers: Infinity War event added the Infinity Gauntlet to the game as a usable item. Star Wars itself has a history with Fortnite. In the leadup to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, an in-game event culminated with exclusive dialogue that was actually a key part of the setup for the movie. If Disney+ is indeed about to begin a marketing push in Fortnite, unveiling a skin for one of their most popular shows seems only natural, especially as season 2 of The Mandalorian just began airing.

Will Fortnite Add Baby Yoda From The Mandalorian?

Of course, an even more popular addition to Fortnite  as part of a Disney+ promotion would be the breakout star of The Mandalorian, Baby Yoda. Baby Yoda merchandise was intentionally missing during the show’s first season, as Disney didn’t want the character’s existence to leak through toy prototypes. In response, fans made their own versions of Baby Yoda items, including mockups of Baby Yoda backpacks for Fortnite. Thus far, no Baby Yoda items have appeared in game.

The big marketing line for season 2 of The Mandalorian is a quote from the Mandalorian himself, proclaiming “Wherever I go, he goes.” It would be a bit odd if the Mandalorian arrived in Fortnite without his charge in tow. A Baby Yoda Fortnite back bling item that would allow players to carry him around the battlefield is an adorable idea, one that many would be willing to hand over V-Bucks for. With luck, players will be running about Fortnite in Mandalorian armor with Baby Yoda at their side by the end of the year.

Fortnite is available for all platforms.
