Why A Lost Sequel Should Focus On Claire’s Grown-Up Son

Why A Lost Sequel Should Focus On Claire’s Grown-Up Son

If a Lost sequel series ever happens, Claire’s adult son should be its main character. Born on the island in season 1, Aaron Littleton was a member of the Oceanic Six and one of the few people to survive the events of the series. Presumably, he raised by Claire (with help from Kate) after Lost’s ending.

For now, it’s hard to say if the aftermath of Lost will ever be properly explored. Its story was concluded, so a continuation isn’t exactly necessary, but the island being revisited in a reboot or sequel series is a scenario that shouldn’t be ruled out. In fact, the idea has been discussed quite frequently, leaving some with the impression that it’s only a matter of time before a Lost revival arrives on the small screen. But since the original show did wrap up the stories of its core cast, it makes sense that a spinoff would have to be built around a new group of characters.

Why Aaron Is Perfect To Lead A Lost Sequel Series

Introducing viewers to a fresh batch of faces would make sense for a new Lost show, but at the same time, but at least one of its characters connecting to the original series feels necessary. Of course, most have already been developed to their full potential, but there is one that the sequel would have plenty of freedom with. A Lost sequel would benefit greatly from making Aaron the center of the series. With him, the show could explore the island through the eyes of someone who’s already been there but doesn’t necessarily remember it. With Aaron, the show would boast a main character with an intrinsic link to the original series and the island itself.

By using Aaron, Lost could get back to a forgotten idea regarding his character. In the beginning of the series, there was this sense that Aaron was special somehow. Season 1’s Richard Malkin insisting that Claire had to raise her son led added a mysterious element to his character that was downplayed as the show went on. Centering a show on an adult version of Aaron can allow the sequel series to pay off this tease in a truly meaningful way.

What Has Been Said About A Lost Revival

There hasn’t been much talk of a Lost revival happening in recent years, but it has been viewed as an option, at the very least. The show’s original creators have made it clear they don’t want to be involved in any potential reboot, but executives at ABC have expressed interest in a Lost reboot in the past. So far, though, there’s only been talk of it potentially happening with nothing concrete being in place. But with so many other successful shows being revived over the last decade, a sequel to the hit series could happen in the coming years.
