Why 90 Day Fiancé’s Jenny & Sumit Should Move To The US (& Why Not)

Why 90 Day Fiancé’s Jenny & Sumit Should Move To The US (& Why Not)

90 Day Fiancé star Jenny Slatten has been talking about bringing her husband, Sumit Singh, to the United States because life in India is turning out to be harder than she thought. Sumit has expressed zero interest in moving to America. However, Jenny thinks it would be a good way to show him her culture, as well as a great way to stick it to his family.

Jenny, who is 63 years old, has been romantically involved with 33-year-old Sumit for more than 10 years. Jenny moved to India to be with Sumit in 2019, which was chronicled on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 1. After many tribulations, including Sumit’s parents forcing him to wed another woman, Jenny and Sumit finally got married in July 2021. The ceremony took place in secret because Sumit’s family refused to accept Jenny. Her age is something they just cannot get past, no matter how hard the couple has tried to make Jenny’s in-laws see how happy they are together. When they finally revealed that they had tied the knot, Sumit’s family went ballistic.

90 Day Fiancé Fans Are Furious With Sumit’s Family

Why 90 Day Fiancé’s Jenny & Sumit Should Move To The US (& Why Not)

On 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After season 7, Jenny surprised Sumit by telling his father Anil Singh and brother Amit Singh that she and Sumit were thinking about moving to the United States. Sumit had never agreed to this plan, but Jenny basically wanted to see if Sumit’s family would change their minds if faced with the prospect of never seeing their son again. To everyone’s surprise, Sumit’s father barely blinked when he told them to do what they had to do. He stood firm on he and his wife’s position that they would never accept Jenny and that they wanted Sumit to separate from her. As such, Jenny and Sumit should move to the United States because there is absolutely nothing keeping them in India anymore. If they stay in India, their marriage could be destroyed.

Moving To The US Could Save Jenny & Sumit’s Marriage

Sumit seems to think that his family will eventually come around, but that seems to be less and less likely. If Sumit and Jenny move to the U.S., there might be a slight chance that his family will realize how much they miss him and change their minds about Jenny. If he stays in India and keeps trying to beg for their forgiveness (even though he did nothing wrong), his family will only dig their heels in deeper. Once Sumit proves to them that he cannot be manipulated, they will have to face the fact that they have driven their son out of their lives.

Sumit Needs To Sacrifice More For Jenny

Of course, Sumit knocking some sense into his family isn’t the only reason he and Jenny should move to America. Jenny has sacrificed everything to move to India to be with Sumit. She has left her own family and friends behind, adapted to an entirely new culture, and put up with endless abuse from Sumit’s family. It is time for Sumit to do some of the sacrificing and get to know Jenny’s family and friends, and experience her culture. He also needs to see what it’s like to live in a society where people accept each other’s differences and don’t care so much about what other people think.

The only negative side to Jenny and Sumit leaving India would be that Sumit might resent Jenny for taking him away from the only home he’s ever known. Obviously, she cannot force him to go with her, but he may agree to go, simply to keep the peace. This could eventually cause problems in their marriage, but those issues are unlikely to be as monumental as the ones they are experiencing in India.

90 Day Fiancé fans have always been rooting for Jenny and Sumit to be happy. Unfortunately, their chances of being happy in India seem to be dwindling the more adamant Sumit’s family gets about wanting them to separate. Moving to the U.S. could be the fresh new start this couple so desperately needs.
