A Japanese poll has revealed Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s most popular new Pokémon. This poll collected data from 177,829 fans, and while only the top 50 were shown publicly, it did include a refreshing amount of entirely new Pokémon. Popular older Pokémon still made their mark on the list, which works well with the mix of new Pokémon, as it shows the series’ continued success with its catchable creatures.Generation 9 added 107 new Pokémon to the franchise, with 293 existing Pokémon joining them to make up Paldea’s Pokédex. Regional forms continued into Gen 9 but were more limited than the previous two generations, only adding two new regional lines. To supplement this, Game Freak added Convergent and Paradox Pokémon to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the latter making up the bulk of post-game Pokémon. Overall, 107 marked the highest addition of new Pokémon since Generation 5, bringing the franchise over the 1000 mark.Related: How Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s Gen 9 Designs Compare To Previous Gens’

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet – Why Tinkaton Is So Popular

New Pokémon Tinkaton poses with it's trainer in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Tinkaton has a lot going for it in charm but is also viable in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Competitive is not where Tinkaton shines best, but it is still valuable for niche teams. For normal activities, Tinkaton is strong with respectable stats and Pokémon‘s overpowered Fairy/Steel Type combination. Charm and appearance garnered Tinkaton the most votes, capitalizing on a simple but adorable plush-like design. However, while Tinkaton is adorable, it is also mischievous, using its Corviknight-made hammer to hit rocks at flying Corviknight. Tinkaton adorably drags its hammer around effortlessly while using it for a makeshift bed when tired, making for a unique Pokémon.

It’s nice to see Tinkaton emerge as the inner, but it would be interesting to see how a global poll could change the results, as different backgrounds and more participants each carry their preferences with them. Until that time comes, Tinkaton sits atop the throne of being Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s most popular new Pokémon.
