Who Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Kamado Is Related To In Diamond & Pearl

Who Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Kamado Is Related To In Diamond & Pearl

Now that more information has been revealed about upcoming open-world Pokémon game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, fans have gotten a glimpse at Commander Kamado, the ancestor of an NPC players might recognize from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl – Professor Rowan. Alongside confirmation of quite a few returning Pokémon to the series, a cast of characters related to familiar faces from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl is giving players plenty to be nostalgic about.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set in the feudal era of the Sinnoh region featured in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, a time period in which it was much rarer for Pokémon and humans to live alongside one another in harmony. As such, the region – known as Hisui during the events of Pokémon Legends: Arceus – is significantly changed from what will appear in this year’s Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes. New locations, Pokémon, and characters were all revealed for the game during August’s Pokémon Presents livestream.

Most of the characters revealed for Pokémon Legends: Arceus are part of the Galaxy Expedition Team, in which the game’s protagonist serves as part of the Survey Corps. Primarily, the team is responsible for observing and documenting the behaviors of Pokémon in their natural environment. To that end, players are instructed to keep an updated Pokédex at the request of Professor Laventon, the latest Pokémon Professor introduced to the series. There are quite a few other faces to know on the team, though, some of which might seem familiar to long-time Pokémon fans.

How Legends Arceus’ Kamado Ties Into Pokemon Diamond & Pearl

Who Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Kamado Is Related To In Diamond & Pearl

Commander Kamado serves as the overall leader of the Galaxy Expedition Team. The Pokémon Legends website describes him as a harsh but reliable leader, deeply trusted by the other members of the team. If his appearance looks a bit familiar to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl players, it could be because the site also reveals he’s a direct ancestor of Professor Rowan, the Pokémon Professor who will be returning in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl this November. Professor Rowan is an expert on Pokémon Evolution, and like Profesor Laventon, is responsible for providing players with their Pokédex at the start of the game.

Kamado isn’t the only character who serves as an ancestor to characters from the Sinnoh region, though, as the Pokémon Legends site also hints that there will be quite a few other familiar faces popping up as players venture through the Hisui region. Although they’ve yet to specifically be revealed, one possibility is that the game’s protagonist – Akari or Rei, depending on which gender players opt to select at the start of the game – could be related to the player characters from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. At the very least, their designs are relatively similar. More characters, including those who are additionally related to NPCs from other Pokémon games, will likely be revealed as Pokémon Legends: Arceus‘ 2022 release date approaches.
