Actress Bonnie Aarons plays Valak’s Demon Nun form in The Conjuring movies, with her being the actress most closely associated with the character. Aarons has appeared in The Conjuring 2, Annabelle: Creation, The Nun, and The Nun II as the Demon Nun, with the actress horrifying audience members since 2016.
Although Valak’s Demon Nun form is Bonnie Aarons’ most iconic role, it is far from her only performance. Aarons has appeared in all kinds of other popular films, notably in the horror and thriller genre. Aarons has played roles in Mulholland Drive, Drag Me To Hell, and Jakob’s Wife. The Crooked Man is played by actor Javier Botet, who appeared as the character in The Conjuring 2. A spin-off focusing on the Crooked Man was originally planned, but it was sadly canceled. Botet has appeared in other horror movies like Slender Man, Mama, and The Last Voyage of the Demeter.
Another actor played Valak for a short period of time, but he actually didn’t make it into the final movie. An alternate design for Valak was originally used in The Conjuring 2, but this form was cut from the final film. This form of Valak was actually played by composer Joseph Bishara, who scored all three The Conjuring films.
